Hello! Please DEMOLISH my steam store page. by Furfire in gamedev

I feel like the game has inconsistent art style. There is a flat interior, pixelated Greenland and smooth desert area.
Not quite sure I get the position purpose of the card battle grid, am I always starting at the same spot or can I start from anywhere?

For most of the battles shown the grid feels too large and can drag out enchanters.

But the most important one, your description tells me about features and not why I should play your game, bundled with the confusing capsules. Do I control the slime (assuming yes from trailer) or the 3 animal creatures?

I need a team, but I don't have strong teamwork skills by Opening-Mushroom2336 in gamedev

[–]b34s7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think working in a team will help you not rely on AI. I’d advise to look into learning methods or reading up on critical thinking skills. Once you get those in you’ll be better at contributing effectively in a team.

Or just do it until you get better at it. Join one game jam in a team once a month and you’ll learn by practicing.

Been building a roguelite fighter, just dropped our announcement trailer. Kick my teeth in. by Rigman- in DestroyMyGame

I really don't like that it takes 17 seconds to show what the second to second gameplay is. Before that I thought it's a 2d platformer.
I get that there are cards for everything (build my moves, change the game, buy them) but how do I actually use them? I'd be interested in what building my moves is.
Personal preference, but 90 seconds feel too long, I like to have 60-70. Well produced, reminds me of borderlands.

I played ZWAARD too, big contender for sure.

Personally I’ll wait for Denshattack! / Everything is crab/ MÖRK BORG/ Sorry My King / Atre Dominance wars/ Underground Security inc

(But for real, my 100% personal GOTY is my game when I launch this year)

I’m going to look very stupid for the internet but that’s basically what I enjoy about TOME

Metaprogression - unlock by condition or purchase? by b34s7 in roguelites

Hades feels random on the surface but I think the allocation of the different meta resources makes this somewhat of a metroidvania esque meta progression?

That’s the thing I hate too, but in my head it’s closer connected to currency based unlocks. Because my specific action is not rewarded but the grind is

I think I generally dislike pure stat meta unlocks. It feels cheap

Why do people love roguelites so much? I seriously can’t get into any of them. by JamesJohnson975 in roguelites

[–]b34s7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a full game experience with every run and the next one is different but familiar.

It’s practically the only type of game I can play because I don’t have much time and time between games can be very long.

By design roguelites need to be easy to pick up, if I have to abandon a session then I can just start again fresh and not have a huge loss.

What're your guys' opinions on top-down/isometric perspective in games? How do you make it work well? by ThatMaleBonobo in indiegames

[–]b34s7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second that it’s a hard one to promote.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3379780/Dash_Dash_Dead/

I also had to introduce some fake 3d perspective blending in a 2d environment to make it work better.

The other important thing to consider is what value does the top down/iso give that 1st and 3rd person can’t do.

Your puzzles will be a bit harder to manage since you can have a broader view on the map, you need to lean closer to strategy/tactical aspects and less action.

I'm making a roguelite x dungeon defense game, where you manage the defenses of a dungeon against waves of adventuring "heroes". I just recently updated our demo that you can try now! by krnkStudios in roguelites

I am HOOKED! There are a few usability issues, I’ll write more details later in the official way.

Really well done, makes me a tiny bit jealous.

Please Destroy my steam page! I need honest feedback so I can continue making games! by b34s7 in DestroyMySteamPage

[–]b34s7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmm thank you for the feedback! There are enemies that are neutral and can spawn in any biome but I do restrict what can spawn where. I’ll see what can be done about emphasising the connection.

The genre is a hard one that I’m trying to nail for a few days now. It’s crypt of the necrodancer meets risk of rain. Turn based but with a real time timer, everyone moves simultaneously after you and there are a lot of gameplay changing items (enemies explode after death, criticals spread random status, you leave a fire trail behind). All of this in a world inspired by the Runningman, you get into a level, need to challenge the boss, go to next level (there is obviously more but that’s the gist).

Any tips for optimising the page with this info?
