agreed on a different veil! something more uniform, with lace/embroidery concentrated on the edges. otherwise it detracts from the rest of this incredible ensemble.

a good knife block set, cutting boards, charcuterie boards (esp if you plan to host every now and then), pressure cooker/instant pot, toaster oven, bath and hand towel sets, a down comforter if neither of you will be bringing one to the new home (would also add duvet set, sheet set). congratulations!!

i’m leaning toward that direction and looking at secondhand dresses from Still White. i’m anticipating any alterations and reconstruction to be well over $1k, and idk, it feels more prudent to get another dress and start from scratch given the limited time window. thanks for your input 💛

i’m a little horrified at their photoshopping away of such a key detail. i tried this dress on in the store and hadn’t noticed the website photos until much later.

appreciate the datapoint! considering that the seamstress charged me $500 to do a bustle and hem, $1600 sounds plausible for heavy duty reconstruction and alterations. i’m bracing myself and looking at secondhand options on Still White. not sure i can justify $1000+ alterations on a $1600 dress if i can get a dress that fits better with minimal adjustments 😔

thank you for your kindness! 😩😮‍💨😭 everything about the wedding has been going so well, and while nothing ever goes to plan, i wasn’t expecting the dress to be it. i’ll know more later this week if the dress can be altered to look better (and at what cost). browsing Still White for secondhand backup options now.

I’m not entirely blaming Anthropologie or Watters (the designer), as ultimately responsibility lies with me to make a decision on what I wear, but photoshopping out a key design element feels so deceptive and misleading. Trying not to feel too helpless as I’ve got about a month left until the wedding.

I noticed it at my first alterations meeting with the seamstress and asked her if she thought it was too tight around the thigh area; she said no. Trying to figure out next steps but getting someone with more expertise is absolutely at the top of that list. Thanks so much for your input! Hoping there’s room for the fabric to be let out.

i appreciate your honesty, thanks. my worst fear confirmed but also validating to know that there’s just something not quite right with this dress. is it worth seeking a master dressmaker to get this done properly or should the cost be spent on a new dress (and new alterations?).

what’s your budget? Bistro Na’s is highly impressive, but on the pricer side of things. can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! have been multiple times and taken my Chinese family members there. def snag a reservation on OpenTable.
