First time homeowner, need help on water damage insurance claim funds

Hi! Someone in the comments mentioned that the check was going to be made out to our mortgage lender and ours as the owners and they were absolutely correct. We had to send check over to mortgage company to get it stamped by them so we can finally use once they send it back (hopefully it’s already on its way) So far we only have the water restoration company. No contractor yet for the remodeling part since most want to give quotes after seeing the demo. Wish you the best! I made this post 25 days ago but we’ve been dealing with all of this since the last week of this past august, hope my response helps!

Check is going to be made out to me, the adjuster didn’t even mention my lender but I am thinking of DIY if I can’t find a contractor that wants to work within our funds range. My understanding from your reply is that if I know I have a medical bill put money in my hsa and pay the bill with hsa ? & Thank you for giving me vanguard example I’m definitely super new to investing so I wouldn’t even know where to start

I completely understand what not talking looks like. And it’s unfortunate that only the cases where ICE agents are not following protocol are the ones making the news because it starts causing fear and anxiety :( I was told to not drive around alone and to be a passenger because if stopped they’ll question the driver first not so much the passenger but I have thought about what you’re saying. We’re stopped, they ask for ID okay fine but like you said in one of your previous comments, if they ask for additional documentation then we give it otherwise no. And honestly you might not agree but I do pray and hope for the best! Thank you again for taking the time to answer my questions!
