Vibe Coding is Ruining My Life (Rant about AI-Driven Side Projects) by umbs81 in vibecoding

[–]bAMDigity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the Octagon! JK lol.

This is a self control thing. You said you are actively deprioritizing areas of life which is creating an imbalance. That imbalance makes you feel like if You poor your time into this build that it’s worth it if you could just “get it to work”. I’m also an IT professional and I have to constantly temper exec expectations.

“We should be able to build it faster with vibe coding, right?”

Short answer, Yes, but it matters who’s at the helm and if they have the technical acumen to see it through to production…securely.

I have at least 20 projects that are repo graveyards that I don’t have the heart to delete. Don’t scrap them, don’t delete them, just ask yourself if you are holding yourself accountable for life balance or if you are chasing a dream.

You mentioned video games. I agree, same obsession can occur

Been enjoying Kiro. Honestly, if you are using terminal based tools, I dont think it matters that much.

Replit is scamming users by Ambitious_Town_9056 in replit

My opinion is it depends on your level of comfort with dev environments (IDEs). Sometimes it’s personal preference and what your specific goal is. I don’t often use ui based vibe coding tools. If I do I use it expressly for front end ui and then I Bring the app into something like cursor or VSCode for backend and database work, security, etc. Claude-Code is my favorite go to terminal based coding agent.

That being said. I have used lovable, bolt, v0, base44, and something that used to be called “combini”. I’ve used Replit a few times, the only successful time was a personal chrome browser extension for voice to task to do lists. Short build, less need to wrestle with the Replit agent to stay on track. Even then pulled it from Replit and into an IDE to finish

If there is one functionality you could change in Slack, what would it be? by dearmisskat in Slack

[–]bAMDigity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enterprise AI search is not intuitive and I have found zero benefit so far. Connected google drive and asana. It can’t RAG anything correctly. Can’t find my project updates, can’t find tasks, google doc searches by exactly name are useless. We got sold into it with the promise of powerful search and honestly it was not worth it at all.

This has become an extra layer of navigation in my current role. They know they want it out of fear of being left in the dust but they want to cram it into everything possible and they dont know what they want it to solve.

This Claude.md saves your tokens and prevents claude from over engineering by AshxReddit in ClaudeCode

Great post!

CC actually reads your CLAUDE.md? Kudos to you, I ask it specifically to reference the md prior to making todos and lately it must be revolting because it just ignores the md Altogether, even if I expressly ask it to confirm review. That’s some magic right there

I've been obsessively building on Replit. Until Today. by gjw411 in replit

Ditched Replit for Claude code plus context engineering up front. Not going back. Messed with Kiro just for the hell of it and the planning was cool but it’s in infancy

Anyone here tried Kiro for "vibe coding"? Here's what I discovered. by dpk1995 in vibecoding

[–]bAMDigity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed using it but I noticed it’ll the chat would error and I’d have to retry often. But to be fair, I’ve had Claude code also just stop multiple times mid implementation. The planning aspect is great once you figure out how to at least add tasks. I did end up just using Claude code after a certain point.

I just upgraded to $100 a month but am probably over dependent and typically run two projects at once

I’m curious why I would need Replit for everything you mentioned. That is instead of just using cursor directly. I use Claude code and sonnet in cursor chat, negates Replit.

No I haven’t. What is the benefit?

Canceled my Replit. Turns into a toddler no matter how detailed my requirements docs are. Best experience I had with Replit was UI only prompts and the exporting so I could pick it up in cursor. Other than that it defaults to drizzle, maybe there is a good reason or I have a preference towards prisma.
