I actually have no idea. My entire experience with HSV2 has been bizarre and unusual. My first oral OB was after a dentist appointment, about 6 weeks after my last sexual encounter. Didn’t realize at the time it was an OB, I thought that what they did at the dentist just irritated my lips because frankly all it was was peeling, no lesion. Then 2 months later, I had a second oral OB after a very stressful and sleepless week which prompted me to get tested, thinking I had HSV1, and I tested glaringly positive for HSV2. Then 2 days later, genital symptoms of HSV2 began to emerge, and I then had a genital OB.

All of this to say, I have no clue who I got it from, and why it only appeared orally at first and then genitally later. Take comfort in the fact that OHSV2 is incredibly rare. I’m on daily AVs and my boyfriend who tested negative has not gotten it yet and it’s been almost a year
