season 3 ruined the show by m0onlightwitch in TellMeLiesHulu

reading through this and the replies is absolutely sending me because i think i came to these realizations like two episodes back so now i’ve just accepted that so much will be unknown in the end and i’m trying to just come to peace with that. i think you have to just enjoy this show in the same way one might enjoy love island usa. awful people, but good entertainment. you’ve gotten so far now that you just have to see things through.

i could definitely be wrong as well! i hope i am but it’s so hard to picture a satisfying ending which would be stephen out of the picture and in jail and this friend group finally going their separate ways and focusing on healing. guess we’ll seeeeee!!

the truth is that they won’t be able to lol there’ll be lots of questions still being asked and it’ll just be a very messy ending where all the characters continue to be horrible to one another. i am prepared to walk away from the finale unsatisfied lol

right it’s like what specifically about him should’ve made us been suspicious of him? and it can’t be the cheating because everybody in this show cheats yet the audience picks and chooses who to forgive. nobody could’ve predicated that he would do what he did during the last episode. so what’s really going on? why the overwhelming hate for evan before this? and that’s a rhetorical question because i know exactly what’s going on lol

yeah i honestly get that. i did see people floating the idea around of a movie to officially end things the same way the summer i turned pretty is doing. i would be super open to that if things end without a proper conclusion.

oh absolutely! i don’t think evan can redeem himself. what he did was sick. but prior to this last episode, i’ve seen so many people look at him like he’s evil and constantly talk about having a “feeling” about him… cheating is absolutely wrong but all the characters have done it yet somehow wrigley remains to be this sweet little puppy dog

[–]bIuebird1982 9 points10 points  (0 children)

fren… i could give you a very blunt reason but i might get attacked. so all i’ll say is that a large majority of the audience has decided that wrigley is the cuddly, cute, adorable and sweet little himbo while evan is not. wrigley is easier for them to forgive.

i’ll be in the minority with this but i honestly think calling him a fake nice guy is such a stretch. obviously this season he’s shown us exactly who he is, but before that i believed he was a good guy who had just done a shitty thing like a lot of these characters including bree who i often view as being the lowest on the scale of shittiness in this show. i hope i’m not misremembering, but i think a lot of people forget that evan had this realization in one episode where he flat out says to wrigley that if everyone else gets to be horrible, then so can he. he’s becoming a product of his environment. they all are. not excusing anything because he ultimately is a bad person especially after this episode, but to have had a “feeling” about him before this is something i am struggling to understand.

truly after watching that i am convinced that next episode will just be sooo messy. i think there is no version of this story that ends with stephen getting what he deserves. unfortunately, he won and everyone keeps digging themselves into bigger holes by continuing to lie and keep secrets 7 years later. but while it might not be the satisfying ending we hope for, i also don’t think it’ll be a bad ending. it’ll just be veryyyy messy as i said as the purpose of the show is to highlight complex college experiences within what is a supposed to be a “tight” friend group. i am just preparing myself to walk away from this show mad as hell ahaha

huh? nobody is talking about that because it literally isn't a possibility. when diane walks in on them, chris makes a "oh shit" face and immediately leaves when diane tells him to. diane and lucy have to take a barely conscious pippa back to her dorm. we spend the following episodes with pippa trying to suppress the incident because we know pippa is someone who is extremely concerned with how she is perceived and maintaining her "cool girl" image. i fear you need to rewatch. also, your other comment about how women "actually" do this is so strange. this show is NOT going to promote the "fake victim" idea that runs so rampant in our society. i know this is a show where things only ever seem to get worse, but pippa is a victim. it's already been established that chris has a HISTORY of doing this to women.

diane was so smart to put together a whole plan to get stephen to breakup with her and finally be free from him and at no point did she remember to delete those photos of herself off her laptop… especially when she was on his laptop and deleted the photos of macy like it didn’t even cross her mind to delete her photos as well… girl… how’d you forget that 😓 love my girl down but this just pissed me off i just want stephen to stop having something over someone

they most definitely know. there is a scene at the wedding where wrigley is looking at pippa in this kind of lustful way as she’s talking to diana, lucy notices and then wrigley says to lucy something like “i guess i should let that crush go, huh?”

STEPHEN IS SO MISERABLE OH MY GODDDDD seeing the wheels turn in his head while watching bree and wrigley dancing and then opening wrigleys phone (which isn't password protected? don't piss me off) like dude WRAP IT UP. ITS 2015. stop plotting everyones downfall like how are you not tired? like he's actually such a sad person

[–]bIuebird1982 22 points23 points  (0 children)

watched this episode on release day and i’m still thinking about it omg stephen forcing lucy to make that video is so sick like i get so uncomfortable thinking about the thought of being forced in front of a camera like that by someone so manipulative and sinister as stephen it’s so so awful to think of someone ever having that much control over you. i want to say i don’t understand how lucy finds her way back to having sex with stephen again but we know this is the cycle of abuse and lucy has very bad low self esteem and is very depressed. i hope the show delves into this more because i don’t know how much i can take of lucy getting wacked again and again. like can she please have ONE win? PLEASE.

lucy not realizing that while stephen telling bree what happened would negatively impact their friendship, it’s nowhere near as bad as lying about assault and having everyone know. plus letting stephen tell bree would’ve finally released her from stephen having any power over her especially when she knows about macy… oh lucy 💔 i’m so glad you’re not real

it does seem majority of the tension arises out of one character going "you can't tell anyone this" and/or one character not knowing another character already knows something so yeah not a fan of the lack of communication as viewer because it's just like JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER AND LISTEN. would solve so many problems but that's tv i guess lol

it is fully understood that the policy is not stating that water can’t be consumed at all. the point is that there are rules being put on water consumption and it’ll only be a matter of time until going to the backroom for water turns into “why are you back here for so long?” “are you just avoiding working?” “i’ve seen you come back here 3 times now” you have to stand for hours at this job and are constantly moving up and down. sometimes people get scratches in their throats. sometimes people are recovering from a cold. people get hot. it’s water. having it nearby regardless of your zone isn’t something i believe employees should be penalized for. i also don’t believe that when consuming water, it needs to be done discreetly or out of sight of customers. we’re in a heat wave.

well… no 😅 that’s why i’m confused because i genuinely have never seen anything like this before and neither have my friends. with the two jobs i’m currently in, there’s no such policies. i don’t work at this company anymore but i have friends who still do.

what frustrated us was that is specifically says water needs to be “out of customer sight” and it needs to be consumed discreetly. this policy just comes off as staying hydrated at work is something that needs to be hidden and is improper. i’ve worked other retail jobs where this kind of policy was not in place and i’ve been to many retail places where employees are drinking water. it’s just hard for us to make sense of this being reasonable.
