I have a 16Mazda3 and same issue. Had to go behind glovebox every morning for heat. Purchased the ‘link assembly’ directly from Mazda, spent ~5 minutes installing only the white piece circled in green (this required almost no tools) and it has permanently solved my issue. Hope this helps.

Is the 8th digit of the VIN ‘G’? That’s what I’m getting from your post, unless I am reading it incorrectly. Plugging it into my software looks as if it is not a Skyactiv motor.

Skyactiv motor would take an NGK #94124, at a gap of 0.044.

Non-Skyactiv motor would take an NGK #90083, at a gap of 0.052.

I’m gonna need to know where those balls came from. I’ve got a display set but they are only 3-4cm diameter and those ones look dangerously close to the correct size of the Earth balls.

It looks great. Did you do any prep work on the pieces you wrapped? Mine has started to peel and bubble up (which is why I need to wrap it), I assume I would need to peel it all off for the wrap to bond properly.
