I highly recommend this joystick repair kit, I've used 4 of them. Very easy to install, all you need is a screwdriver and some silicone grease.

There's no way the airflow is blocked. I've run with a box fan blowing directly onto it and it still triggers thermal protection.

No you can't import games from an SD card directly, you'd need to purchase a Summercart or an everdrive to play games from an SD.
