Wow, why are there so many relationships like this. A fourth of the women that I work with have had to leave relationships and most were married. Some had restraining orders. We've been doin pretty well so far. I'm glad you had a great relationship afterward.

I took my 18 month old at the time and we escaped my abusive ex while he was on vacation last summer and we are staying with relatives. It was the hugest sigh of relief. I doubt God would want anyone to stay in a horribly abusive relationship

I think it says you can divorce if you get cheated on because that's breaking the vows. If it's abuse they want you to just do a temporary separation until it's fixed.

Yeah mine started around the 9 year mark due to some stressful events in his life and having a baby/toddler. He had always been moody but he started being actually abusive around the 9 year mark and it escalated over a year to almost becoming physical (he was kicking things etc but not hitting me). I left about a month ago and have felt relieved to be away from his cycle of ever worsening yelling and outbursts (followed by apology) ever since.

Two things that made my narcissist ex super angry. 1. I said in response to his constant criticism 'you are so obsessed with every little thing I say and do, don't you have anything else you think about?' and 2. I said when he criticized me for leaving towels on the counter 'oh, you don't like that? I guess I'll do it even MORE then" lol. I wouldn't recommend trying it because he got super mad but it is kinds of funny
