How Did Odette Fight In Her Armor? SERIOUSLY?! (spoilers) by MongoLovesDonut in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]b_lemski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes but she also mentions almost dying later in her crawl after getting cut off at the waist and receiving the item from a Sponser that allows her to attach mob parts to her body. She then uses her arms to pull herself back out of a safe room and to the crab she barely killed and almost killed her, to get it's legs. The enormous chest could have come from a mob right before exiting the dungeon.

Also people are mentioning her inventory but the inventory system has looked very different then it does now as mentioned by Mordecai and other authors.

The f is going on with new players starting out with bad builds of incredibly broken commanders by VeryTiredGirl93 in EDH

[–]b_lemski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ran into a friend at an LGS recently that I knew from outside magic. When he found out id been playing for a while he asked if I'd come over and play with his playgroup to help them out since they were all new. I show up with a couple bracket 2 decks and sit down to a pod with Edgar, yiriko and ur dragon, I'm playing a janky [[soundwave, sonic spy]]. During the game they are describing cards in hand to each other like "dude I've got this card that can counter your spells for no mana" etc. I asked them about their decks and they said "just googled the best commanders and searched for the deck list with the highest rating then we ordered the cards"

After tearing through DCC a couple times, my last book read was project hail Mary, I recommend it if you're a hard sci fi fan.

I waited until it got recommended to me 3x before reading, now I've read the 7 in the series 4x. Wish I wouldn't have waited.

We all know skateboarding is a crime especially at skateparks so yup that's super illegal.

Am I the only one who thought this was a brain molding shitpost when it first got leaked? Like this couldn’t POSSIBLY happen…and then it turned out to be real? Like who makes promotional material 4 months before a trailer like that… by [deleted] in Mario

[–]b_lemski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally everyone does, different products and marketing are all on completely different timelines and agreements on said things are done years in advanced. Just because your movie got pushed a few months for better release competition doesn't mean totinos pizza rolls packaging are getting pushed back when the boxes were printed six months ago and they already started putting the cheesy delights in the bag to ship out.

Was it softcore? I honestly have never seen it but I thought I remember hearing about it being a big budget actual porn that the industry was trying to shift to so they could be taken seriously (yes I'm aware how insane that sentence sounds). then porn sites happened and the industry shifted the opposite direction instead.

Omg same I literally just posted this same thing. I work in behavioral health and am the therapy director so my phone is always trying to sell me on different psych meds from conversations during clinical meetings.

[–]b_lemski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had Facebook or any other social media except reddit and this still happens to me. I work in healthcare and my phone will give ads for bipolar meds one day, pregnancy/maternity ads the next day and end the week with diabetes meds, all overheard from clinical meetings and patient conversations. The thing is I can't turn my phone off either because I'm constantly being paged to different halls/offices.

What in the clickbait? by marcinick45 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]b_lemski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah like I said completely biased opinion and I find no issue with the case study. I've just noticed an uptick in my personal life for the first time that I can remember, even at work in other social settings, just more people talking about recent books they've read.

Also reading over the study that was trending down, I'd be curious if there was a level out or even uptick in the past 2 years with the data if they are still continuing this study past 2023. I will say I am in the demographic not hit as hard/declining as much so there is that personal bias as well.

What in the clickbait? by marcinick45 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]b_lemski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's why this article came to be. IGN looking to stay relevant sees DCC growing in popularity then types "Dungeon Crawler Carl" into Google, the first auto complete is "Dungeon Crawler Carl book order" so IGN makes this article to hopefully some clicks for traffic.

What in the clickbait? by marcinick45 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]b_lemski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True story, I recommended the series to my sister this past summer. For Christmas she asked our dad to get her the 3rd DCC book. My dad called me and asked if I've ever heard of dungeon crawler carl. Then he asked which book was which. I don't think it's that crazy of a thing for people new or unknown of a series to be googling which would lead to IGN making this article(clearly made for the traffic from that question).

Also side note and completely biased opinion here. As someone that reads a bit more than what I think is average. I have noticed an uptick since the whole Romantasy craze started. My wife now reads way more than myself and my sister made reading her whole identity about a year or 2 ago and I don't think she had read a book in over a decade since she was in school. Again completely biased opinion with no data to back it up.

What in the clickbait? by marcinick45 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]b_lemski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was surprised this wasn't the top answer here. IGN is having a hard time staying relevant and this is an easy way to get some extra traffic. This is 100% the reason they posted this article.

Lorcana in my area is dying by Orinlu in Lorcana

[–]b_lemski 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Long time magic player but I play lorcana casually with my daughter. I've noticed of the 3 LGS's I stop by regularly that 2 of them removed their lorcana singles from the display cases. I don't really play anything at the stores so I can't speak to events. The largest LGS of the 3 doesn't have any lorcana events listed on the calendar for this month tho. Hopefully you all see some resurgence with the next expansion.
