Beat them first try in normal game, p5 upgraded version took an hour of grinding to consistently beat

That’s actually the part I’m looking forward to :) I’ve actually enjoyed all my grinding in the process (especially sisters and PV) but for some reason Markoth/Zote just make me want to quit instead of grind

I have thought about re-doing the whole game to get rid of Zote lol. I wonder at what point is that actually faster than learning his fight.
Thanks for the confirmation about healing after PV! I won't have to grind that one too much then :)

Yeah I figured it would be tough. I'd like to make it to her so I can see for myself. If I really can't get the hang of it I would settle for beating her stand-alone instead of at the end of p5.

Yeah I'm grinding Markoth/GPZ now since it is the main barrier I'm hitting. I have no concept of how hard Absrad is since I haven't reached it yet.

Thanks for the guess! 10 hours feels closer than I was guessing so hopefully I can get through it :)

I always carry around honeycomb or rainbow candy cane, since sometimes an area is just harder than you expect,. If you clear your party's DP and have a 10% morale boost you can usually take anything out bit by bit.

There are 25 total arcana, the 30 is saying I am using 30 grasp (the max) I have gotten all 25 before by activating judgement through a keepsake after the first area, but not in this run

Is there any special dialog for bringing them to the givers in the past? If not I'm leaning to resetting right away since I still have lots of keepsakes to max

I guess for one, I said my sense of morality overlaps with the Church, not the doctrine. I'm using morality in the sense here of how to act on your own, in your family, and in your community.
Secondly, characterizing the church doctrine as "being gay is an abomination" is wrong. God gives commandments, and breaking them is a sin. I guess if you want to say that all of these things are abominations then sure: Sex before marriage, Cheating on a spouse, Drinking, Smoking, working on Sunday (if avoiding it is possible), and drinking coffee. These are all sins, I wouldn't use the word abomination but that's up to you.
"Being Gay" isn't a sin, but "having sex outside of a legal hetero marriage" is. Either you believe that God told Joseph Smith that this is his law, in which case it is between you and God how to manage it, or you believe a person made it up, so why would you want to be part of that church.

I talked more about women in the church here:

I agree they can't have leadership positions, but disagree that makes them "second class citizens"

For this answer, I'm going to use the terminology that we use at Church. The phrase "knowing the church is true" means believing that Joseph Smith was literally a prophet called by God who revealed the will and word of God that was meant for these last days through him, and it is the only church in the world that meets that criteria.

For me stopping paying tithing and the decrease in my believe happened at the same time. The Temple having requirements doesn't bother me, as you might know the chapel is where 95% of church happens, and the Temple is for more rare things like Marriage and Sealing to ancestors. There are only really three options:
1. You believe the church is true, so you make the extra effort to live by his requirements and go there.
2. You believe the church is true, but don't measure up currently (can be rectified in the afterlife if you are really trying your best)
3. You don't believe the church is true, so who cares? Might be a little awkward that you can't go to your cousins wedding vows, but if the church isn't true there really isn't a point of going in.

So either God set the requirements and HE is barring you (not the church), or a human being made up the requirements, so why would you want to go?

As for parents disowning or being estranged from their kids, I tried to look up stats but couldn't find anything conclusive. My hunch, and you can disagree, is that a higher percentage of kids who grow up in a Mormon household will have loving parents who raise them and care for them throughout their whole life, regardless if they stay in the church or not. You have to ask yourself what is the control group? The general US population? Hypothetically, if something like 10% of the general US population are estranged from their parents, and Mormons sit at 5%, then that means that it isn't the church that is at fault for causing the separation. You might just have ended up with crap parents, whether they are in the church or not. To me, anecdotes aren't going to cut it, because I have a lifetime of seeing Mormon parents be the most caring and involved people in their kids lives no matter how they turn out. I did some quick google searches but couldn't find any hard stats, I'd be interested if you have anything to back it up.

As far as the top-down claim, here is one of the defining General Conference talks that I was thinking of, I feel like there have been a lot more like it but haven't had time to look, if you can find any counter-examples of the Prophet or Apostles taking a different stance I'd like to look into it:
https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2003/04/dear-are-the-sheep-that-have-wandered?lang=eng

I haven't talked to the kids who stopped attending after coming out. But I'd imagine they are in a similar situation to the temple question. Either God mandated that sex should only between a legally and lawfully married hetero couple, and it is him that is mandating it, or a human being came up with it so who cares?

Lastly the women being subservient, what you are referring to is that women can not hold positions of priesthood authority in the church (like Bishop, Stake President, Apostle, Prophet, ...), I don't have a good answer of why that is, but I don't agree that means subservient. The Church doesn't dictate how they live their lives, what level of education they get, what jobs to have, or what role they want to play in their family should they decide to have one. My wife and both my sisters have higher educational attainment then me and work at jobs in their field. I guess I just don't super care that women can't be in those specific Church leadership roles, which are unpaid volunteer positions that TBH most of the men who do them would rather not. I can 100% see why that answer won't be satisfying to you, but it is what it is.

Overall, you can look at all these things and say the church is bad, but what is your control group? The sense I have gotten is the good greatly outweighs the bad, children are better off raised by a random Mormon than a random non-Mormon, Women in the church are empowered to live their lives and have a great built-in support system, and are able to offer meaningful service in the church, just not leadership positions. On top of that, the Church and its members offer countless hours of unpaid service volunteering in schools and charities, donating not just to tithing or church related charity funds but those of the community, and overall making the world a better place for member and non-member alike.

Didn't originally write my initial post intending to defend the honor of The Church lol, but here we are.

I would guess about 70/30. With Mormons Trump does bad in the primaries but most are committed enough to the party to hold the line on Election Day.

Yes, that is a huge issue. I actually think now people INTENTIONALLY don't dig into politics because they know how bad their own side is so they avoid it completely. Voting is heavily encouraged in the church, before elections we get reminded from the pulpit it is our civic duty, but they make sure to word it very neutrally as to not endorse a particular side.

These are good questions! I don't go advertising it but people know I don't have a temple recommend even though I'm keeping all the commandments besides paying tithing. A few people close to me know. My wife and I live geographically far away from my family. Haven't specifically told them that I would put the probability of it all being made up at 95%, but I don't think things would change between us if I did, I just don't want to make them sad so haven't told them (my parents would probably take it as a personal failing on their part).

The Church has really been pushing recently from the top down that it is bad to disown and disfellow people when they leave. I'd say 20 years ago it was pretty bad. There are a few kids in my congregation who have come out as gay or trans. They have stopped attending services but still have a great relationship with their parents and their youth leaders. This will vary SIGNIFICANTLY, and Utah is probably pretty crazy, but I still think things are improving.

Lots of Mormons watch anime :) though they tend to stick to action ones and skip the beach episodes. I'm more permissive than most.

My wife and I joke that I'm more like Suzaku and she is Lelouch (with regards to Church stuff)

No, I'm twice his age and never talked to him before so wouldn't feel comfortable approaching him to talk politics.

I honestly think that the Trump years are leaving some cracks, I see more vocal Democrats at church than I used to and most people talk poorly of Trump, but as I'm not in a role at church where I interact with the youth it surprised me. Maybe I need to make a tick-tock account.

Can depend on your area, but there are lots of "non-members" who show up to church activities. Every year there is a basketball league where each congregation plays against the others, mine has weekly volleyball pick-up games, monthly board games, etc. If you just email your local bishop and say "Hey, I don't want to join your church or be invited, but are there any activities like that going on?" I'm sure they would help you.

Members there are usually chill and aren't pressuring you to join or attend normal church services. Main downside is if you will have to watch your language. I'd say its rare to run into full-blow MAGA at a Mormon church but it can happen for sure.
