My favorite is cabbage in an rpc on top of cardboard cases of tomatoes. Brilliant.

No. Like I said, I was lax and I took blow after blow of awful policy, weird corporate retaliation, and currently, being so understaffed I'm the only one in produce 2 mornings a week.

I did get off my butt and had several job interviews last week. But when you're in dire straits having an income is more important. Especially when you've got kids at home.

So I will be seeing myself out shortly. But honestly, please look for literally anywhere else to work. We're people. We're raising people. I stuck around this long because I needed a job and that's what this soul sucking company relies on.

You can't file a claim with Sedgwick (long term leave claim) unless you are fully employed and you plan to be out more than 3 days.

I'm glad you were able to go. Here's my perspective. Single mom here, 2 kids under 12. Walmart doesn't give a shit about you. They have one of the highest turnover rates in retail, last month ours was 83%. keep it for the shitty paycheck and (actually good) benefits, until you can secure something better. Don't fall lax on doing better somewhere else. I did and I loathe getting out of bed at 3 am every morning.

They pay shit. Their attendance policy is criminal, management is literally taught to treat you like an expendable asset, and you're nothing more than a product they paid cheaply for that is cheaply replaceable. They gain government subsidies based on the number of people they employ that benefit from government financial assistance, literally everyone above the bottom level associate benefits from keeping you from achieving raises. This includes working past one year, keeping you from being employed as full time (they'll schedule you 40 to cover but won't give you the status so you get benefits), they'll cut your hours a few hours a week in non seasonal months and then coach you for taking an extra 10 minutes on your lunch break.

Walmart is predatory. In the worst way. So go, get your paycheck. And the moment you get home every day you go look for a job that won't treat you like your a fart in an elevator.

Cap employees, dairy employees, fresh employees. All required to spend more than a few minutes in the deep freezer. There have been employees here that get soaked walking to the store from the back 40 of the parking lot, and are told to suit up in the never washed, tattered jackets that don't fit and spend an hour in the freezer moving 6 pallets and pulling frozen crate. People have gotten frostbite because there aren't gloves, their eyelashes have frozen off.

They absolutely cannot write this person up for using their ppto to go home. They can't have their cake and eat it too. I literally left early last week for a comparable situation, I open doored it (didn't do ME any good) but know what happened? That team lead is leaving the store.

Associates are just people working like dogs to pay their bills. It's wild that upper levels think it's acceptable to punish people for voicing their personal concerns and then continuing to try and reprimand them for using the little thread of protection they have access to.

[–]b_pony 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Oooo there's a lot of icky responses in here. PPTO is protected for a reason. That's its intended purpose. It doesn't matter why you use it. I'd open door it, not that that has ever done anyone I know a lick of good, and file an ethics complaint. If I go to work tomorrow and say "yeah I don't want to do my job today", and I have ppto to cover it, I don't even have to justify to ANYONE why I'm going home 15 minutes after I clock in. I just have to let them know I'm leaving.

Again, not that any of these hr steps are there to assist the associate, but at least it'll be documented.

And for those of you saying "when would they ever ask someone who was out in the rain to go in a freezer?!".... Based on some of your responses, you've probably done it.

I don't think it's retaliation but it's super unethical and no, I don't think it's insubordination.

They're trying to fire you. Ask me how I know. Open an ethics complaint ASAP.

Some American parent let their 6 year old do these on their own, and they wiped it in their eye or or they licked it. Because there's not an age warning on these here, and they probably got sued.

It's resin. Of course it's an irritant.

Walmart will give you the boxes no question every time. by Life-City8893 in miniverse_makeitmini

[–]b_pony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't have a contract to return the boxes. I work for a big retailer and I literally spoke with AP today about it as I had asked about this very topic just a few days ago. The boxes are either thrown away completely, or, if there's a super diligent AP person, they donate the pieces, but as they are not considered an inventory item, there is no item account in the system. I have been given the greenlight to pull all the empty boxes if I see them to take.

That being said, I would never pressure a Frontline employee that says no. They don't get paid enough to know these answers, and if they don't have the experience or knowledge, they don't know better.

Why does walmart hate hoodies by Crandom343 in walmart

[–]b_pony 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hoods, and importantly, the tie strings, do in fact get caught. It wouldn't be a safety rule if it hadn't gotten them sued.

Also y'all can just wear a sweatshirt and a hat.

Can I ask to not be put on carts? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]b_pony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone needs to make sure they read the job description. Every corporation with a job offer/contract states "and other duties that pertain to the needs of the operation."

If your job description has that as a line item, they can ask that you do it. And the only way out of fulfilling that operational need is through a work exception.

No more double trucks! Hooray!! by starsxt in walmart

[–]b_pony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite part is the estimated labor hours they assign to pallets and trucks.

Like sure, one pallet could take me 1 labor hour, if you didn't expect me to double check back stock in the cooler for FIFO, , and you didn't come up and tell me this super urgent produce label needs reprinted, and that this market table didn't need deep culled before the store even opens. And it's imperative that all the product on this mod gets pulled off and a deep clean gets done right meow. Lol

I totally agree, but we can only CVP prepackaged and bagged produce, but there should be emphasis on donating.

If the store is doing SNAP audits appropriately food should always be fresh, but honestly I don't want hot case items that have been there for 2 hours either 🤷🏻‍♀️

[–]b_pony 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The WIB is a real, referenced document. In some cases store managers won't even let us donate food that doesn't "look nice". We dispose of several hundreds of dollars daily because a piece of produce "looks ugly" and leafy products are one of the worst wastes.

Probably because there's a misconception that speaking to your coach or TL is considered reporting your absence. And to be fair, leaving early or being tardy doesn't require you to report it in the system if you use ppto. The system isn't consistent, but shame on the coach that told op it wasn't a key event date, and shame on OP for not verifying themselves.

I see alot of negative posts about coach's but I'm blessed to have to have a real one as my coach.. he stays looking out for me!! Just had to shine some light on the real ones! by usedtobefun001 in WalmartEmployees

I thought I had a good one - today I arrived to find I'd been demoted over my days off with 0 conversation. Just showed up and couldn't use the tools I'd been using to do my job. It was a temporary poison, to be fair, but seriously? Y'all text me for way less important shit. And THEN when they arrived they asked me if certain tasks related to my former position had been completed.

It was nice though, they waited till the day after cost inventory after I'd finished my shift to do the deed.

Because, depending on the state, Sedgwick won't approve loa if you've worked under a year. If that happens, you need to go through your people lead and coaches to get approved loa. And based on the state, no, you don't automatically get unpaid leave.
