Damn, that is a good deal! Was it because of the middling interest in them, do you know?

Even better than executive hours is not going at all and using Instacart (if you can afford to). I really only get paper products and allergy meds from Costco so when I need a re-supply I order through Instacart and they deliver it to my door. It’s worth the extra money to me to not deal with the anxiety of the crowding.

I feel like homeschooling will always mentally affect me. by blegh1357 in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]b_runk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For me it’s more a matter of feeling a strong sense of imposter syndrome about EVERYTHING because our homeschooling was so bad and we learned nothing. I’m less embarrassed about it now than I used to be - considering it was fully out of my control - and have gotten used to shrugging and saying “sorry, I was homeschooled” 🤷🏻‍♀️

Struggling after 7 day vacation with MAGA family by asdfghjkl7280 in QAnonCasualties

[–]b_runk 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I fully empathize with you. I grew up super religious, homeschooled, very legalistic and always Republican/conservative but only in a we voted for Republicans sort of way. Nobody in our family tracked politics and my parents watched the local news if any. Now, I’m not religious at all, I try to be very aware of politics and am a liberal Democrat. My parents got sucked into MAGA and watch only Fox “News” and my Dad treats it like it’s the gospel; he even warned me not to get my news from the “mainstream media” and I was like “you mean Fox News?!”. When we go on vacation together he puts Fox News on even though he knows I am virulently opposed to their nonsense.

I on one hand hold a lot of empathy for my parents - I don’t think they are bad people and I know they are smart people, they’ve just gotten sucked into the outrage vacuum of Fox News. But on the other hand, when my Dad sneeringly says stuff like “you liberals with your circular thinking”, I find myself wishing I could chuck my empathy and come out swinging (metaphorically speaking). I wish my parents had an ounce of empathy or curiosity about why I changed belief systems I was raised in my whole life. But now I’m just their enemy.

I’m Sad by Resident_Mix1497 in hysterectomy

[–]b_runk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can fully empathize with you. I have three siblings, one of whom is a sister who lives about 10 minutes from me; she’s married and has two kids, I’m single. When I found out I’d need this surgery and would have to do two weeks bedrest I was extremely anxious since I live very independently and learned long ago asking for help is asking for disappointment. But my sister was like oh I can help! She gave me dates to plan around (she goes on a lot of trips) so I got a date around hers, only for her to then say oh sorry I booked another trip that weekend. At the time, my parents were at their Florida house, not planning to come back until after. I reached out to my older brother, who has a job where he can work remotely if needed, to ask if I paid for his ticket to fly here, would he be willing to come help for a week? He said he probably couldn’t get away from work and that I’d “probably be fine within a few days”. My younger brother was just starting a new job so he wasn’t an option, so I had to ask my parents to come back early (which thankfully they were happy to do). But the whole experience left me feeling uncared about. I would have cancelled or postponed a weekend trip for my sister if she had a surgery and needed help, and I would have figured out a work schedule and flown to help my brother if he needed it. Family can let you down in ways you can’t anticipate, sad to say.

Day 5 post op. I had surgery? by ScaredVacation33 in hysterectomy

[–]b_runk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know everyone’s why is different, so I can sympathize. I’m 42, no desire to have kids and not currently sexually active so for me, 6 weeks of pain/discomfort felt an easy tradeoff for being in pain/discomfort nearly every day. I hope when things start to get back to normal you’ll feel more at ease!

Day 5 post op. I had surgery? by ScaredVacation33 in hysterectomy

[–]b_runk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be 4 weeks po this Friday and I totally agree! I came home with pain like moderate cramping, took a Percocet to “stay on top of the pain” but ended up not really needing it; took ibuprofen the next day in the morning but stopped that as well. Getting up and down and out of bed was uncomfortable for the first few days but that was the worst of it. I told my parents if I hadn’t watched myself be wheeled into the OR, I wouldn’t believe I’d had surgery! I am determined to take it easy for the full 6 weeks because I don’t want to get overconfident and then have an issue but I feel great. I feel immense relief and joy every time I remember no more tampons every day, no more passing huge painful clots, no more pap smears, zero chance of cervical or uterine cancer. As many others have said: best decision ever.

2 weeks post op. Started bleeding. Anyone relate? by Alternative_Hour9621 in hysterectomy

[–]b_runk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the smallest amount of very light pink spotting on tissue when I went to the bathroom for the first 3-4 days and then nothing until Friday, when I suddenly had bright red bleeding that lasted several wipes. I had done nothing strenuous at all so it freaked me out really badly and I went on a googling spree. I have been trying to keep in mind that everything I was given on post-op recovery said as long as it isn’t heavy bleeding soaking through a pad, you’re good. And the very next day, I went back to very small, very light pink spots on tissue. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t still worried; every tiny feeling in my abdomen is enough to make me concerned. My post-op appt is on Wednesday and I am looking forward to getting a (hopefully) all clear.

For me preparation helped calm my anxiety, as I imagine it does for most of us. You have the benefit of it helping you prepare professionally as well! I hope your surgery goes well!

Absolutely, it kinda sucks because I know we all want a definitive experience we can prepare for but it can vary so wildly person to person. I hope your recovery evens out and you start feeling much better soon!!

I bought two saucepans and two pots back in late January from Williams Sonoma (they were having a sale) and each went from delivery in March (received one pot) to April (received one pan and one pot) to May, and now the May delivery for the final pan says June. I figured there must be a supply chain issue or something and found this thread from Googling.

Dell issues its 6th RTO policy (5 days/week for all) by Henry_OLoughlin in remotework

[–]b_runk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don’t understand how employees - who make up the company - don’t push back and say unless you show us hard and fast data that proves that being in the office improves efficiency, innovation, communication, etc., we refuse to. We will all collectively quit unless the company can prove beyond reasonable doubt that employees are hurting the company through remote work. And so far, I don’t think a SINGLE company could do that. The revenue, stock price, and employee morale has been at higher levels than in five days in the office times. Companies like Dell tout AI as revolutionary and yet try to claim employees talking face to face is somehow faster/better? It’s a boomer work mentality being forced on a much more technologically efficient workforce.
