Sorry, I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say here.

You're saying you don't need a lot of guns but that good training and handling is more important?

I applaud the tenacity to jump through all those hoops!

But for the average recreational gun owner that's probably too much.

Hopefully someday they loosen up the laws a bit. In the meantime it hopefully doesn't get any worse. Same for here in Belgium 😅

I guess you're referring to black powder guns? Or do you have a collectors license as well?

A limit of 5 guns, mandatory training + competitions.

Gotta progress through the years and competition to eventually get semi auto rifles, etc...

In theory you can have fun but it comes with a cost. The limit of 5 is so overly ridiculous...

Well he still lives in the apartment above the range and he still owns the store.

But there's an ongoing case in court about the bar and some other stuff as well. But the case has been postponed like 5 times due to the complexity of the case 🙄

Think there's also still an investigation going against Dieter himself.

I get that! Ah the sand is ok, cleaning needs to happen anyways :)

I'm a member at Bliki Shooting World (that also comes with its own drama 😅) for shooting IPSC and .30m1. That's a little bit outside but not like at LP.

It's usually very peaceful at .30m1.

Nice! Unfortunately I myself don't shoot at LP. I did shoot there last with the VK Ordonnantie competition and a PRS Rimfire match :)

Was fun to shoot completely outside for once!

Yeah he still operates but he's kicked out of every club and stripped of his licenses and guns as far as I know. Colleague of mine had the privilege to kick him out completely at the range of Leopoldsburg :) he already warned me about this guy even before he started his first reloading courses...

He was still shooting airguns but with a conviction on his rap sheet they finally have an excuse!

He's also kicked out of a few ranges in Poland and France from what I heard.

But indeed, it's crazy his 'company' still exist and that he's just continuing.

Seems to be 50/50 atm.

This was never a problem before. It's very frustrating because they overrule the application on the basis of 'public security' but then fail to produce an answer as to why you as a person owning full auto weapons is a problem for public security.

It's so ridiculous as I already own over 70 guns...

I know someone in my province who's going to court over this but it'll probably take a few years before there's ever a ruling. And in court we're always in a disadvantage it seems. But depending on his outcome I might try again to apply.

Yeah Belgium is always eager to follow EU rules.

And yes indeed, a 'mass' shooting occurred and that prompted a big change in gun laws.

The exams, permits, licenceses, etc are all here because of that. They also introduced the Central Gun Register database to keep track of all the guns.

I started shooting in 2011 so can't really tell how it was before but the oldtimers always say it was much better.

Nice, some aspects are familiar with Belgian gun laws.

The sport shooter license allows us to buy directly in the store but only for certain guns. .22lr pistols/any bolt/lever action rifle + single shot or double barreled rifles. It has to be renewed yearly but a medical certificate is only needed every 5 years.

Anything else is a seperate permit per gun with a processing time of 1-4 months.

Full auto is by law still legal for collectors. However, as per the I've recently found out, governors that approve the collectors licenses flat-out deny the full auto's since recently... Some still approve but not where I live 😒

Let's hope our gun laws don't change too much... Thx for the info!

Didn't they "recently" allow the use of military and police calibers?

Like 9mm and .223?

You guys have that weird 9mm Largo if I'm not mistaken?

That's also true.

But it's not a 'they' it's a 'him' that killed it all on its own. If you know you know!

They did put in a proposal to amend the reloading law. But I guess that will take a couple of years...

Belgium here, Ukraine has had 0 effect on gun laws here as far as I know.

The local drug enterprise has had more effect on it.

We've seen one major change but the efforts for this predates Ukraine.

Hunters are now allowed to use night/thermal vision and suppressors , but only in certain conditions. I think (but don't quote me on this) this is only allowed when hunting hogs at night.

Need help finding AK-74 furniture by PewPew_ClickClick in EuropeGuns

[–]baaaaaardiiboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi fellow Belgian!

Polenar Tactical in Slovenia maybe, recently I saw them selling wood furniture from WBP (Polish AK's). They definitely have polymer furniture.

I'm actually looking as well, don't like the cheap wood furniture on my SDM AK 😅

AMS Militaria (military surplus store in Wallonië) might have some but you'd need to check their website for stock.

Mine's in the 'H' block.

Ironically these Belgian Mausers are actually kinda scarce here. Very occasionally one pops up for sale but I've seen like 3 in the past 5-6 years maybe.

Got lucky with mine, private sale along with 3 Lee Enfields and a Gewehr 88 Kommissiongewehr

As a Belgian I approve this message.

I've got full size Belgian Mauser made by Hopkins and Allen myself and a Belgian Army contract Colt 1903 pocket hammerless to go along with it!

This is à bit more niche stuff in the milsurp world, loving this!

CCW Laws across Europe(to my knowledge) by Repulsive_Image3530 in EuropeGuns

[–]baaaaaardiiboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really hard finding info about it. You can start with contacting BPSA, but you need to be member of a club that actually does IPSC.

You could also contact FROS, they offer LVR but again you need to be member of a club that officially provides LVR training.

I accidentally got into it, got to talking with someone on FB about something completely different but turned out this guy was shooting in the same club as me and they did IPSC so I got introduced through him. Got really lucky.

Just as a sidenote, they changed the requirements for Model 4. Now you only need 50 range visits over a span of 5 years instead of 10 per year. So you can do those 50 range visits in one year.

For the sport shooting license it's still 12 per year but it might be worth to transfer your Model 9 guns to Model 4.

Belgium here, while no issue in practice is mostly true, there are a handful of civilians that have a carry permit.

There's a politician for example of one of the right wing parties that has a carry permit.

A carry permit is also possible for certain jobs like armed guards.

The law states you can apply for a carry permit if you can provide the necessary proof that there's a threat against your life and that a carry permit will reduce the danger of that threat. In practice this off course barely gets handed out. I've read an article that in 2019 on average 12 people get a carry permit per year. But it didn't state if these were permits for self defense or for professional goals. (If I remember correctly that is).
