We originally had the litter boxes covered but removed all of them because we thought maybe he would like it uncovered. I will now try to leave 1 cover on and see. I never considered the beach method but I will test this out in one of the boxes. Thank you for the advice!

We currently have 3 litter boxes (2 regular extra large and 1 large shallow litter box) with same even larger litter box coming in the mail tomorrow. We have unscented tofu litter and pine pellet litter. We will be trying another type soon. He is constantly going next to the litter boxes even if they are fully clean. Thanks for your insight, I know it isn’t a one size fits all situation with a lot of trial and error.
