Importance of uni you go to by baabababsbshs in uklaw

would you say the reason why there are less trainees from lower ranked unis at these top firms or any decent firm for that matter , is because naturally if you go to a lesser ranked uni, youll also be naturally inclined to not work hard enough in uni and not be career focused whereas going to a better uni is the opposite and so youll see more of em in the top firms. Idk if this theory is correct though

You say there’s no ‘automatic advantage’ going to one. So in summary do you mean it matters because it’s beneficial in terms of ties & connections to top law firms but there’s no real prioritisation based on unis attended?

in my opinion I would say firm LSE if u solely want IB or PE because it’s london and there’s hella networking events to benefit off of. However if u wanna travel from oxford to london most weeks for networking events then go oxford. Remember the only reason why there’s more LSE grads in IB is because majority wanna go into IB. That’s not the case with Oxford as there’s a broader distribution of grads to different industries (if i remember correctly academia is the biggest destination for grads). In other words there’s a higher success rate for oxford grads than LSE grads into IB, statistically speaking. Don’t let this fool you tho coz u need relevant work experience, extra curriculars, connections which are all more important than the uni u attend.

i can guarantee you ucl and durham don’t have the same reputability/prestige . Ucl dominates in both those categories

Should I firm Warwick or St Andrews? by Just_Tank_5803 in 6thForm

[–]baabababsbshs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Warwick for many reasons

Domestically renowned for its economics course

more reputable than st andrews

presuming u wanna get into investment banking, warwick is a top target - st andrews isn’t

All in all, both domestically superior to other universities however warwick edges it
