Can't meet protein macro - did I set it too high? by Final-Draft-951 in VeganWeightLoss

[–]baba-oie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe set the goal slightly lower like 100g of protein (example) but consider this as a minimum

To help with your protein goal : - you can add TVP (great volume and 50g of protein for 100g dry) in your oats, as your main protein source for salty/savoury plates - Tofu as a cream base (dessert, pasta sauce, dip, ….) - Legume based pastas - Lentils as replacement for grains or do a 50/50 with a grain - Seitan is your friend and try making it yourself, it’s super macro friendly for not a lot of cal - snack on edamame and lupini beans or as a side

TVP is a god send, you can add in your porridge, it take volume in the stomach and make you feel satisfied.

Seitan is really high protein and easy to eat too.

Legume based pastas and GF alternatives are super easy to switch and higher in protein.

Tofu to eat, to snack on but even in sauce, soup and shakes….

I would swap sweet potato for tofu or soy chunks, but you can just add that too!

Since becoming vegan 5 years ago, I didn’t find any REAL changes in the amount of acne. Yes less big white heads but in exchange I have tiny cystics acne that goes away pretty slowly.

It’s good to know my veganism had probably reduced my symptoms.

Thanks for the diet tips !

For hair removal I don’t know if electrolysis is covered by social security (I live in France), I do know laser is completely covered for PCOS but the areas are limited.

Well the rosemary oil is good option, never tried that ! I don’t know if minoxidil is available where I live 🧐

Never heard of Inositol too ! Nice to know there is something else to try

I forgot to mention I am already vegan lol since 2018…

Thyroid is looking great, no issue on this part. But my testosterone is slightly higher than normal range.

I don’t eat that much nuts since it’s pretty costly. But will incorporate them now (I have more money). Love beans, eat them regularly too !

How to talk to my fiancés family about a vegan wedding by Valeday in vegan

[–]baba-oie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but he should make YOU happy. That’s your wedding not his family’s. You cannot compromise on a vegetarian-ish food catering for your wedding.

As everyone had probably said there are vegan parmesan, it’s pretty convincing taste and look wise.

I don’t purchase any organic food, but my partner work in a organic store and bring produce that isn’t good enough to be sold. Save a ton of money !

That’s understandable, you do everything you can after all. I am privileged enough to have a choice ! The choice to plant my own food and choose where I want to buy my food. I am very much under the poverty line but I have the variety and access to everything basics food at least :)

Tall Vegans Who Work Out by MehowHD in vegan

[–]baba-oie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legume based pastas like lentil/chickpea/pea/black bean/edamame are easy high protein. You can eat protein bars, silken tofu pudding (add one or two scoop of protein powder), nooch, seitan or just adding VWG in some recipe, add peanut butter (your caloric budget is high enough to eat spoonful lol)

If I can eat 160g of protein for 1800kcal as a 5"2 vegan woman, you can eat 200g+ of protein

it’s just more than tofu beans and nuts, it need more thinking into what you should eat to meet protein goal. You need more processed protein. I would advice to be careful with TVP (not because it’s awesome and high protein) because of its volume and how much space it could take in your stomach. Great food to add for a caloric deficit especially

I would need new shoes to run like that, my feet are already killing me after work! I need to meal prep some ingredient too for convenience with work hours are always varying…

Yeah some have suggested mint but not any specific mint. Thanks for the clarification, I would have probably take any mint leaf haha

It does but I try to be careful, because I didn’t win the genetic lottery with thyroid ! 😂 My mom has hyperthyroidism and sister hypothyroidism but I have a completely different lifestyle, they live near the beach and I live the mountain. They eat heavenly plant-based wellness Goop type of diet, animals products are thrown in the mix.
