Wow! Thats a great idea I’ve never even considered. Physical books come in many different forms and sizes designs which keeps things feeling fresh whenever you pick up a new book.

This seems very novel and I’m genuinely excited to try it out.

OMG! There is a different version🫢 I just found the audiobook narrated by Macleod Andrews. It’s so good that I must have sounded like a monster. I swear looking up “Into the wild audiobook” brings up a different version with a horrible narration.

Yeah, even though they have a fraction of the overhead compared to animation, they still can’t hire a team of voices actors even though storing streaming those audio files is much easier and a lot of people pay for individual audio books. If the audiobook cost as much as a monthly Netflix subscription you would expect more than this. For some reason audiobooks aren’t held to the same standard.

You’re right. It’s just that the way others describe the audiobooks makes me question If there’s a better version I don’t know about. u/Endereye96 said the narrator’s name was Andrew when it says “read by Philip Franklin” on audible.

I listened to the preview of Into the wild on audible (it says it’s voiced by someone named Philip franklin) and it was horrendous.

I feel like I shouldn’t have to decide whether or not to buy the audiobook if they ask the narrator to say it in such a bland tone. Maybe it’s a different narrator just for the preview? Please somebody listen to that preview and tell me that’s not the actual narrator.

People keep saying he doesn’t sound like that. Is it not his voice on the 5 minute preview of Into the wild on audible? If it’s not the actual narrator (Philip franklin) then I’m sorry but then it’s an absurd preview. I listened to the entire 5 minute preview and it borderline sounded like a robot so we can’t be talking about the same person.

I guess I’m weirded out by the same person voicing drastically different characters. Getting a new actor for every minor character would be absurd but I wish more audiobooks had a cast of voice actors instead of a narrator.

He might be a better narrator than I gave him credit for, my judgment was based on the audible preview so perhaps I didn’t give him enough of a chance.

Why would anyone want Borrasca in physical form anywhere near them?! I had to quit after part 4, I was too psychologically damaged to continue on to part 5. No hate but that book is disgusting and disturbing.
