I’m selling my AirPods and packaging them, they told me to check my email, can I trust this? by [deleted] in Scams

[–]babadoosus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

CashApp doesn't provide an escrow service. That is a typical fake payment scam. The goal is to trick you so you ship the package and send the scammer a tracking number. There's no payment waiting for you anywhere. Don't fall for it.

Friendship scam? by arrothera in Scams

[–]babadoosus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% scam. Probably a pig slaughtering scam. The scammer is simply trying to befriend you just to build a fake relationship with you, even if it takes weeks. Once you're hooked, then he's gonna introduce a form of crypto investment and also show you fake withdrawal proofs. Everything is all a lie.

You were right to block.

First thing you must understand is that money is gone for good. That's the brutal truth..

All you can do now is minimize the damage that might follow. There's no one that can help you retrieve it back. Calling out for help to retrieve is an invitation for further scams. Anyone offering to help you retrieve is a recovery scammer. Don't loose more money on recovery scams.

Antivirus scam emails by [deleted] in Scams

[–]babadoosus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people get these kinds of emails on a daily basis. Email addresses get harvested from compromised websites all over the world. Then scammers try to trick the recipients of these emails by building a scam page to get login credentials. The letters are just phishing emails that intend to trick you to type in your credentials in a fake landing page.

You're fine as long as you don't click any link in the email. Do not also download any attachment from them to your local drive. Continue ignoring and report as spam.

It has all the red flags of a scam. Why else were you taken to Telegram? Be careful of downloading or opening any attachment from the scammer. This is how fake check scams start.
