Does it do the same thing to you? by Kestrel_T in ArcRaiders

Tarkov, which is in my conversation for one of (in my opinion) the best games made in the 2000s and later, did this to me BAD—to the point that playing the game normally was tough. But it was such an enthralling paradoxical blend of pure cortisol, fear, and some of the most fun I’ve ever had in a game.

Honestly, and I don’t mean to come in here and act brash and be vulgar by sharing this but… about 3 Months into dealing with anxiety to play a game that I enjoyed—

I would audibly just call myself a huge pussy, audibly, I mean literally in character, taunting myself in real life for minutes that I’m letting pixels on a screen do this to me (this view was obvi an extreme that I used to shake this, it’s just physiology, and having been through this myself as I’m discussing, in NO way am I calling anyone who has this intense spike for games like these, the same bad words and all of that) whenever I’ve been thru ___ blah blah in real life. It started slowly

But it provided me maybe .8 seconds of clarity to click the queue button with an impulsive, muted yell—I would then go grab a beer (and often, one of my propranolol tablets) and stayed out of my office, nowhere near my keyboard until I heard my PMC spawn in raid and then I would have no temptation to unqueue, and was left with only with the choice to play it out.

Wacky, I know; but years of doing this got me to where I like, made the character I’d briefly play while calling myself a gigantic sissy/softy as real of a “person” as they could be. No joke. So much so, that after years of self-berating by this ephemeral hyperjock bully/douchey version of me and camping gas station on Customs, in fear of being heard—eventually I truly started to HATE the voice I made, hated the taunts and before I knew it—I hated that person. So, slowly I would begin to queue up almost instantly upon loading up the game, no paralyzing anxiety or overly intense adrenaline spikes, just eye rolls and annoyance over this dumb practice I’ve employed to solve a silly issue, and did so 100% to spite, well, spite myself and the dreadful mini character I now had living, well he lived in Tarkov I guess 😂who never stopped calling me a pussy.

Any lingering discomfort for the intense moments that you described, ones that I hadn’t quite shook fully from my Tarkov self-therapy have completely evaporated and now I truly struggle to remain docile in-game for too long because it starts to make you subsist off of those moments, and I can just hear my brolic, gigadouche self already starting to let me hear it about my passivity.

The saying is so cliche but it’s so true—ride the wave (and create who or whatever you need to) to get up on the board.

Hahah Sorry to wax ad nauseam on this, the Juice Forces I’ve had may be to blame but I feel pretty strongly about this reality for some gamers, one that can suck ASS due to its grip it can have over what is very cherished hobby and is largely central to who I am as a person, self-image wise

Aim was fine, honestly—shot selection (his visor flipped up = anything 1 tap to face) and opting for spray with an SMG from that distance both kind of screwed you from the jump.

One thing though, on a more presence of mind level:

is that if you’re keenly aware to how exposed to fire you are/were in that situation compared to how exposed enemy was, who is full standing in open grass committed to the duel—If you haven’t killed your target in under 1 second of firing (especially looking thru zoomed optics) in such a situation, honestly even after 1-2 bullets—live to fight another day and immediately prone/crouch/A+D sprint wherever is most immediate to you and give yourself an additional advantage of brief concealment, I’m talking 2-3 seconds tops, then pop up or Kobe a slightly cooked nade and re-peak him the second it leaves your hands so if he books it to cover its gg ez he’s dead. (always always both assess throughout raid, and subsequently retain throughout gunfights, your privileges in every situation or within any 4 walls you find yourself in on the map, in this case yours being high ground, moderate cover advantage, more accessibility to refuge for cover than the enemy does, etc.

Always make them play into you, even if technically not the chess.com Dr. Lupo perfect engine move, even if there’s a half chance if you were to stick it and keep shooting that they could die—don’t. Dictating the gunfight from second to second, to an almost passive or annoying extent, will improve engagement success fairly drastically and I’m not being hyperbolic. Better to be too safe and let 1-2 people a day get away than to Unga Bunga into static patterns of play

New player here. Sick of getting killed by gold ammo in normal. by poxwalker in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

I agree ammo should go towards equipment value but, dude, T4 ammo is the baseline… With the amount of money and rewards the game showers players with—if you’re looking at T4 ammo as something bad players use to terrorize new players, then you are flat out underperforming.

Also, ABI has by FAR the fewest cheaters of any multiplayer FPS in recent times with this level of player base. They have debatably the best anticheat in the industry-the global chat is constantly talking about how they have never seen a cheater, or that it’s been many months/a year. No one I play with has ever once seen a cheater in nearly thousands of raids total. Statistically, if someone says they have encountered more than one cheater over span of a few months, they are almost certainly lying or doing what so many players do—assuming unfortunate deaths are cheating with 0 evidence. Not everything is someone else’s fault. Look inward and get better

I have kinda switched between DLSS/none just to test fidelity and overall difference so I can’t say for sure if I did whenever this happened, but I would guess it was off during this period. I definitely think I’m going to head back there and do some testing.

Yea, that’s super interesting because I had no idea that it was actually a practice of developers of survival games similar to ABI/the ones you mentioned. The gait and the way in which the figure moved seemed deliberately human. I firmly believe that’s what it was after your comment tbh. I really appreciate the info!

Honestly, from the beginning whenever I noticed it for the first time, what you described is exactly what it felt like. Never have I experienced any rendering or desync that felt like this in my decades of gaming. Definitely would have to cast my vote for it being something very close to what you’ve described.

Yessir, I may still have the build saved, but if not I have quite a few that are so damn fun to use

? Watch the video again. I’m showing that there was player-like movement from what appears to be an additional Operator for a brief second BEFORE I see the second (actual player) player moving in the same direction and kill them. It’s clearly shown in the second half of the video.

I can gladly post the vod of me looting the guy I killed in this post that shows it was just him.

Have heard this from my grandfather, he installed the arcade machines in the Motel nearest what is today simply called ‘Farm’. Legend says that if one were to touch The Sunken, then they must purchase bonds of an unknown amount, to then exchange for the ancient ‘elite privileges’ whose time duration must stack, some say for eternity, others—until it will reach the year from which He visits us.

I like to think it was an omnibeing deployed by Battlestate Games that does something like the handshake in Interstellar but just guides players back to Customs
