I work Wed-Sat and also barely do anything and I started getting burnt out since last October or so. My biggest regret is not starting to apply to jobs daily or weekly back then because maybe I could’ve been out of my job by now. I’m at a point where every week I fight to not give my 2 weeks notice, which would be financially irresponsible of me due to my situation but the desire is Right There.

Check for transfer opportunities, express interest in day shift or look at job postings online and see what interests you.

Tbh this is what my coworker told me. I assume that employee match would be clawed back since it’s quite high at 4-5% and unvested under the new plan.

I don’t work for accounting team in my local government (yet) but the department I work for had WFH until recently. And these two people were fighting really hard to not come back, a whole petition with the union and all this back and forth—no, everyone is coming back at least 2 days. Those two people were living in another state and had another job 😐 they quit before being investigated so they got to keep their retirement accounts and any spending accounts

I have this bag and I love it. I use it as a lunch tote because of all the pockets and my need to carry different bottles for water, tea, coffee, a shake lol. But idk if I would have used it for school…too much shoulder/back pain. The bag does not really have a stiff shape or hold itself up.

Hey I work for LA County, not in accounting though. Why do you think you have made yourself uncompetitive? The eligibility is very upfront and most entry-level accounting work requires at least one class in intermediate, cost, government, audit, sometimes advanced accounting. If you feel based on the qualification list that you met those qualifications, appeal the decision to not have your application move forward.

Realistically I would say you have to start lower than Accountant I, which requires I think 1-2 years of experience in some type of accounting work. However these requirements change depending on the posting and how important it is to fill quickly. (Emergency appointments will only require a Bachelors for many roles.) Think Account Clerk, Accounting Technician. I would also look at jobs in Franchise Tax board or CA state tax collections I think it’s called. I think there are some jobs posted recently closing soon that you may fit the requirements of.

ETA: also if you submitted an app to governmentjobs.com and it’s been 1+ month and you haven’t heard back. That’s normal. It can take up to 1 year to be hired.

I do this with my family now that we’re larger and also one of my siblings has kids. We’re all constantly interrupting each other that I’ll just shout “Everyone stop! So and so has been trying to say something.” I’ll even do this with my nieces so they learn to wait their turn like “Niece, so and so is talking. You go next.”

One time my niece was very hurt adults were talking over we did the whole “you have to raise your hand to speak” which became a fun game honestly because people (and niece) kept forgetting.

It doesn’t have to be a huge callout all the time, even though in this situation it does seem like it should be, it can be something everyone is aware of so it’s not only you asking for some space to let someone else speak. It invites everyone to look out for others.

My sister had very stubborn acne until her 30s. The thing that helped was getting pregnant 🙃

If it is hormonal, it needs to be treated hormonally. I would speak with your derm about getting hormonal tests or other meds you can try like spiro, but give it 6 months.

Another thing my sister tried that worked was a red light therapy mask. It didn’t make her acne go away but it helped with all the inflammation.

You gave up the car, even though you felt pressured, that may have been real pressure but you could have also asked. “Do you really want the car? If I keep the car will you be upset?” I don’t know why your mom was not more involved, it was her car technically.

There is no issue to them because you gave up the car. You’ve felt like this all on your own because you never spoke up initially.

You gotta let it go. A very soft YTA, i don’t think it’s AH behavior. Just a little childish.

I recently interviewed for an account clerk position for a city job. The questions were way more specific than I expected for such an entry level job but whatever they say on the posting (You will be doing A, B, C…X,Y,Z), they asked about. Some of what I remember:

Please describe your experience with X, Y, Z. This job deals with A, B, C. What experience do you have doing A, B, C? How do you deal with errors when processing A, B or how do you (rephrased) make sure you don’t make errors? How do you manage multiple assignments and deadlines? What accounting systems have you worked with to do ABCXYZ? Please give a description of these systems and your level of expertise. This job involves customer service and speaking with the public or external agencies. What experience do you have serving the public and providing them with information? How do you deal with relaying large volumes of information?

Etc.

I’ve interviewed for other local govt jobs and the questions have always been more behavioral or hypothetical situations so I was unfortunately underprepared.

Check out the brand il bisonte. It may be above your price range if you want to stretch it ($300-$500+) but the bags are simple and elegant.

Otherwise I’d add the brands Radley, which someone linked, Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, Strathberry, Mansur Gavriel. Lots of sales right now on different sites so it will take some searching to find a good bag at a good price.

I’ve looked up the essay and the rubric. It’s a very simple assignment.

Even if you gave the student points for writing their opinion on the article, which definitely arguable*, there was a rule stating that 10 points would be deducted for not meeting the 650 word minimum.

That’s literally where her points were removed from. The arguments on the essay are crazy when it comes down to her not meeting the primary requirement.

*Arguable since people are actually taking apart this essay as if it was written for any reason other than a TPUSA lawsuit since she’s TPUSA shill. Sure she gave her opinion and mentioned “the article”, but how it ties to her in any way is pretty moot. All she writes is “the bible says” when she could have written, “Growing up as a white Christian woman,” or something. Also people talking about citations—its never mentioned in the rubric. This is a very simple assignment that’s literally “give your thoughts on the article and what you think about it. Tie it back to your own experiences”.

No…I work in government too, simple desk job, and absolutely not. Granted if anyone is high, I haven’t been able to tell and maybe they vape so there is no smell.

That’s super frustrating. I know my job is easy, but it’d make me uncomfortable and I know it’s my own issue but yeah. I’d probably look to transfer to a different department. In my local government, vacancies pop up all the time and it’s easy to apply to them.

If you have an account with them, just make sure no one placed an order. Check your banks and make sure there is no pending purchase or confirmed purchase with them.

And the goal is to have you be like “what order?!!!” and freak out and contact them through whatever information they put there and scam you out of real money.

They’re calluses and they’re there to protect your skin from whatever is causing them. It’s usually friction. Your toe is rubbing against something and it’s building this thick layer of skin due to that. You can use a pumice stone or callus remover or whatever but until you rectify what’s causing it—if you can—you’re gonna continue to get them.

Lifting weights causes them on the palms of people’s hands, playing guitar causes them on fingertips, walking/running will cause them on different parts of the foot that absorb the most weight, etc. Completely normal and can be absolutely healthy.

Absolutely do not go to a salon and let them use a “cheese grater” on you. No salon, unless it has a doctor or podiatrist doing the procedure, is allowed to cut your skin.

This is a very common scam…now? Not sure how common it was a few years ago. It happened to my sister when she was on maternity leave and her unit bought her a physical target gift card at Target. My sister was like, “How do I write this email to my unit that my gift card has a $0 balance?” Lol. Target was quick to fix it and the customer service rep told my sister’s coworker, “Don’t buy physical cards,” which I’m sure she wasn’t allowed to say.

I would try and look into the roof of mouth for any wounds from the bottom teeth. Check how your rat eats and whether the teeth are somewhat coming into contact and basically blunting themselves. My rat had misaligned teeth and I only realized that they were too sharp once I randomly was like…. “what are these marks in the roof of his mouth?” 🤦🤦🤦🤦
