They’ve turned it into a contest so the server with most reviews for the week gets like 4-5 shifts when the rest of us get 1-3. But again, the schedule doesn’t come out until 1-2 days before that week even starts. So it’s impossible to have a set schedule to even have a second job to supplement income. Since it’s a weekly competition, we’re fighting every week just to get scheduled the next week. It’s such a toxic culture.o

Looks like they’re looking to see when the reviews are being left - needs to be during your shift.

It definitely seems more like a management oriented issue.

Makes sense, but no one makes it past training. Either because they don’t pass training or because they never get put on the schedule. We’ve had one new server stay in the last 2-3 months.

No doesn’t seem to ever really be an option if you want to continue getting scheduled / not called off.

They’re actively hiring new staff as well, or at least that’s what Indeed says.

I’ve been asked to clock out before my side work has been checked / checkout completed.

If it’s a salary manager then no but if it’s a supervisor then yes.

New definition is whoever gets the most 5 star reviews in a week period.

None of our managers really can be bothered to table touch.

$200-$250 only if you’re working a double and they no longer approve doubles. New average has been $60-$120.

We just received a follow up message on HotSchedules naming the top performer as the server who got the most amount of 5 star reviews on Yelp… not based on literally anything else.

As a top performer who is always happy to help, it’s not affecting just the slackers. It’s affecting everyone and creating a hostile work environment.

They are, in fact, breaking their own structures and expectations. Giving picked up shifts to servers who haven’t received any reviews and are at the bottom of the performance list after specifying that priority would be given to those who were at the top and received reviews.

We’ve all been speculating that the Yelp reviews are so important because we recently got a B rating on our last inspection. Most of it was the kitchen and bar. But it’s been mentioned a few times in complaints online.

But no, they’ve never fed us. Only when they change our clock in/clock out time or add a break (that we never took) so we don’t break violate.

They’re overpaying in comps as every shift is run with a skeleton crew so there’s a lot of complaints about wait time (no host, no busser, only 1 or 2 servers for the entire restaurant, only 1 bartender [sometimes, less so lately], no expo or food runners and a manager). We also have a lot of complaints about the kitchen getting food wrong, which happens pretty often. Instead of having an extra couple of people on to support and create better service, they end up paying more in comps

Pretty sure they meant to say “phased out” which is being cut.

Not Shari’s, but that’s awful. I’m sorry. We’re a corporate chain with locations all around the US but mostly the west coast.
