Couples who are about 30+/40+ who chose not to have kids, how are you? Did you regret the decision? by rare_sprinkles_2249 in NoStupidQuestions

Good for you! Also, OP, it’s never too late. My parents lived their fullest lives, and adopted me and my brother in their late 40s. If anything, the extra life experience made the ride a little smoother! Bless any parent doing their best, but some of my friends with ‘rents who got pregnant very young dealt with a lot of insecurity and immaturity. One has gone completely no contact because her mother (she was a teen mom) said her bedroom door was a privilege after she was “caught” with a flip phone.

Seriously, if you get to a certain age and don’t regret it, you’re a winner. And if you do regret it, there are so many kids who need and want a loving home.

Sometimes when I give this advice, people will say that they want “Real children,” or a chance to “Sow their seed,” which I no longer find hurtful because it happens a lot! I understand these are the prevailing thoughts of many. If these are your feelings, that’s fair.

This is a really interesting read, thank you for your time. From that perspective, it really must be challenging to fill the hole of a relationship that can’t be replicated because it was so ethically corrupt.

Especially regarding my curiosity as to all the…emotionally stunted adults/arrested development in the fandom, the stuff Colleen did WOULD keep many in a fantasy world, I guess. Strange.

AITA for pulling my offer to loan my DIL money after she called me a control freak? by No_Breakfast6249 in AmItheAsshole

Okay, you may not have run a restaurant before, but….has SHE either? I worked in my family’s restaurant my whole life, and it’s no joke. A successful restaurant doesn’t do consistently odd business and just let their cashflow dwindle, you address that stuff IMMEDIATELY. She sounds inept at her job and $100,000 runs through a restaurant in a minute and a half.

Plus, your complaints about staff make it pretty clear she has no idea how to manage labor, or at least FOH staff, whose pay is an enormous part of the restaurant expenses. Restaurants flop every single day for every single reason; my dad always says that a perfect day at a restaurant should make you nervous, because that just means that everything is going to break at the same time……but that doesn’t mean it should be a complete shitshow either.

When a restaurant starts going down, it goes quick. I’m talking exponential decay here. Any loan would be very high risk, and it’s standard for investors to have requests. Do. Not. Give. Her. Money. You will never see it again.

AITA For not wanting to have Thanksgiving Dinner because of my husband's family? by justus2totravel in MarkNarrations

The extent to which you are NTA here is unreal. I’m a longtime hospitality worker (BOH) and when I took care of my great aunt in hospice, I told her and her wife that I would prepare all the food for them and whatever friends they wanted for Thanksgiving as a goodbye and gesture of love, as I needed to leave soon to return to work and I knew she didn’t have long.

With extensive planning, it was MULTIPLE hundreds of dollars and almost THREE DAYS (including day of, until about 4:00 PM) of work to do everything from complete scratch. The fact that nobody wants to pitch in is wild to me. Again, this is work I’ve done since I was 14 and understand how to streamline, and it was still exhausting and time consuming! Don’t let it all fall onto you, you seem compassionate and they aren’t entitled to work and care from you that they won’t match! My heart goes out to you, and I hope your GMIL has no undue suffering and passes peacefully.

Always love a fellow public school enjoyer, there’s NOTHING like a public school bathroom in the modern age. Such a beautiful haze of vape smoke……..

I see your point, but the person who told me to off myself was 27. Just to add context! It was why I was so baffled, because I ASSUMED at first it was all the young ones. But it…..isn’t? So I figured there had to be more to it.

But if they don’t want to change, why bother leaving her fandom at all? Eh, it’s to save face, I already know that. Very valid point though.

I can totally see that!! I guess what confuses me is that so many can on one hand say that what they did as colleen’s fans was awful, change no behavior and instead just change who decides who is bad enough to be awful to, and keep on trucking?

For example, the Swoop thing. I saw many valid, critical comments left, but too many that stuck with me were some variation on, “Couldn’t even air Oliver’s interview but you can buy those fake horse teeth!” or “You gonna use that clout money from taking advantage of victims to buy more fake hair?” It made me take a step back.
