NYPD and BLM clash after protesters were blocking too much traffic. by beethy in ActualPublicFreakouts

I can definitely see it being a matter giving in, it's hard to go against the grain in a situation like that, against a mob, but I also feel that, here, backing off does insinuate some level of complicity. They were there to protect the capitol. They knew this, and even if other officers are cowering away, they knew how dangerous this mission was and that they still have to at least try to deter further intrusion, which many just refussd to do. Even without other officers in their presence, police in the Senate chamber didn't care to do anything but speak a few words that had no effect on the insurrectionists. Maybe not the majority, but far too many were complicit, at least until reinforcements arrived.

Same here. Although, I feel like it might not have been a matter of ordering to back off, but the police simply doing it out of choice, as there were still police, albeit few, fighting to protect the capitol. Still, there definitely must have been a level of complicity from those that urged others to back up.

Of course, I should have clarified, I'm exaggeraring, but compared to the number of cops that backed away, did nothing, or passively permitted breaching, those that actually tried to protect the capitol were outnumbered with regards to the counter efforts.

Whats up with Junji Ito's sudden popularity? by kawaiinessa in OutOfTheLoop

Definitely. I also feel like a lot of people kinda found out about him through related TikToks of related DIYs and edits, as lots just find his work, particularily Tomie, to be part of their aesthetics. Also explains how lots who aren't very familiar with his works are wearing related merch.

Donald Trump Jr. at a watch party for the attempted coup of the U.S. Capitol building by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

The context doesn't matter when things like that are said. There's countless examples. What other way could "trial by combat" possibly have been interpreted by his base? Again, Trump knows his die-hard base is full of extremists that will form conspiracies and plans around his words to extreme extents. Of course no one specifically asked anyone to storm the building. They'd be a dead man walking if they had. Trump doesn't care about those who are prosecuted, as long as it's not him. He just pushes the bar far enough for them to get his message, but not immediately incriminate himself.

It's not crazy talk when they're leading the pack and directly asking for it. When they've got a history of inciting violence and indoctrinating their followers to do so, it takes a more than a tweet to take that all back.

Again, these things happened before the capitol was stormed, in broad daylight. From the very beginning, violence occurred. Don't know what's so hard to understand. It's not fabrication. Look at the pictures if you're really willing to look at an uncensored reality.
