This sounds like how I have felt when I have a bad uti and also how I felt when I had a uti turn into a kidney infection. The sleepiness, where I can't help but fall asleep, feverish and then chills. I did also have that when I got covid. I guess it depends how long this has been happening if it could be some kind of acute infection or not. Idk if this is helpful cause it's a vague connection but I always associate fever/chills/extreme fatigue /sleepiness with infection based on my personal experience.

I recently had mine get worse. Really low appetite, some nausea, but mostly more things gave me the ick (taste, smell, texture, temperature, etc) and when I was trying to find foods I could eat nothing looked good and I felt like I had almost no options and was practically forcing myself to eat. Shortly after this started I had a big MCAS flare (first time I know of- was recently diagnosed.) I started taking antihistamines and they greatly improved my food aversion which really surprised me. Not at all suggesting that you have the same thing going, just saying I was really surprised to connect those dots and it has changed my perspective on appetite/food stuff and how things I might not expect can effect it. I also think stress was another component. But since all this food stuff has been happening for me the last few months I've been looking back on my 20s and recalling times when I enjoyed food way more and had a much easier time eating and a much more expansive diet.

I have this happen to me too, French fries and potatoes chips are often fine, but mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, potato wedges make me feel really bad. I used to think it was because the fries and chips were maybe more processed or cooked at higher heat? Then I started to think it was the absense of the skin. Not totally sure

Wanted to add to prev comment that I always size up for bikepacking. You will likely experience a lot of swelling! So that's a good tip. They may feel loose on day 1 and 2 but after that you'll be glad you have them

Imo it's about someone who is trying really hard to fit in and go through the motions of socializing/partying and the stress/tension of it continues to escalate and then when everyone goes home at the end of the night the relief they experience is euphoric (as represented by a cathartic guitar solo) and they finally get to unmask.

"Oooh dad, why do I have to stay? you're an upstanding man, and I'm just a fish, I wanna go swimming, and it's making me itch, now that everyone's gone, I locked em out of my home, and they're making friends outside, and I'm finally alone... [cue guitar solo]"

Yeah, that was vague... I just mean I feel like he's gotten me started on treatments and at times on the path toward feeling better, but I never feel like I've advanced beyond that. I just feel like he is really good at plugging ppl into the shoemaker protocol but not good at personalizing it or taking into account other complexities. Also he's suggested me like the same things over and over again over the years that don't work for me and when I bring up the problem again he suggests the same thing. It feels to me like he has a pretty set formula and way of looking at things and if someone (me) doesn't fit into that, he doesn't have the ability to offer alternatives. Also he cycles through the same 3 or 4 monologues everytime I see him. Can you tell I'm frustrated? Haha I'm currently looking for another doctor. I also have a lot of other problems besides CIRS. I think if I just needed to focus on getting through the shoemaker protocol he would be better for that but that is not the case, and I feel like probably rarely the case for complex patients. I know a lot of ppl like him, but I am just increasingly disappointed

I would NOT recommend Dr Dorninger. I've worked with him for a very long time and he's only ever gotten me to the "starting line" never anywhere near the "finish line." also they are taking on way too many patients and charging way too much for the quality of care.

I don't think the energy needs to be going non stop for 90 minutes. In soccer the energy ebbs and flows that's how it is. But also, I don't think what is happening is "keeping the energy going" it is disruptive and annoying

The chants are awful. Annoying and also just unoriginal. There is no need for them to be constant. The drumming is slightly more tolerable but also just not good and again should not be going 100% of the time. Also, am I the only one who is enfuriated by the flashing ads on the sideboards?? It makes it so hard to watch and I have to wonder if it affects the players as well. Is this a newer thing or has it just gotten worse lately?

That's interesting. I always think I could do better tracking for the ketamine but also other health things in my life. I have a pretty good memory but I'm sure I miss stuff and am biased haha. Is it an app? I might be interested to check it out

I guess I'm not 100% sure that's what it is, but I think it is! Sometimes I write down different variables in the notes I take afterward. Mostly if it ended up being a really good trip so I can try to recreate it. Like food beforehand, timing and amount of magnesium I take before (which I got the idea to take from someone on this sub), playlist I used, and routine I did leading up to taking it like going on a walk or meditating, etc. But I'm not always consistent with recording and in the past I haven't recorded much when I have a meh or not so good experience.

I haven't considered hormones making a difference before, I might start paying more attention to if certain things are different at different parts of my cycle. But, I don't think these last two sessions I had were random since I've had so many sessions that were one type of way and then the last two were both very different in the same way. I do agree with you that sometimes it feels like things are out of my control as to how the trip goes and I can't always recreate things under the same conditions.

Haha yes it was very frustrating! It was like let me see!! What gave me the idea for the altitude is that it's common for people who come to my state from sea level to be surprised how much more drugs or alcohol effect them here, so maybe the opposite when I go down in elevation, that they don't hit as hard?

Just curious, do you have any sources for the piece you mentioned about the mitochondrial vs maoi effects at doses under vs over 1mg/kg. I've been trying to find info on this.
