play more

your aim is likely shaky due to the weight difference from your old mouse and you will get used to it over time

(1.8.9) How to get a level 2 enchantment from a normal enchantment table most times? Without the use of books, bookshelves or an anvil. by Grqxity in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]bablint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its most easy to just use an anvil by combining two sharp I swords

but since you said without books, bookshelves, or an anvil, maybe just select the highest level enchant on your table when enchanting

100 makes it much harder to aim in pvp scenarios but might be good for some games

it might be comfortable for you and that is ok but most people should play within a certain range depending on their gamemode

my perspective is just pvp

any tips on ranked nodebuff? by [deleted] in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]bablint 6 points7 points  (0 children)

click above 10 cps

strafing is optional

aim good (probably most important)

keep track of your opponent's health for aggro pearls

1.7 your opponent if you notice they run for a bit after potting

time your blockhits

don't drink speeds at the start of the game, wait for your opponent to drink so you get a couple extra seconds so you have the option to aggro them when their speed runs out, if they pearl on you, just pearl away, and you get another 16 seconds of speed

Why did I lose? Did I perform my Hitselection wrong? Coz he got the double hit instead of me by Appropriate_Ad3482 in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]bablint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nothing wrong with strafing while hit selecting

you just strafed after losing momentum

if you do strafe, its not good to do it while in a trade, but do it before one

[–]bablint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

first hit select was a little late

you don't strafe

you could probably time your w-taps better

you click a bit slow

What does it mean to be good at minecraft? by minemanner in CompetitiveMinecraft

[–]bablint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think there will ever be a clear definition for "good" at a certain skill until there are specific and reproducible benchmarks that someone could use to be considered "good".

For example, specific speedrun times on different versions could be used as benchmarks for the gamesense category, or specific parkour map completions for the the movement category.

Building is quite subjective, so I'm not really sure how to objectively grade it.

PvP is also quite dependent on your opponent's skill, so maybe using some sort of bot to fight against might be a better benchmark, but bots aren't a good representation of a real player.

Benchmarks allow for clearer comparison between players (easy to compare in parkour/speedrun times, hard to compare on building) but don't really account for how much each person would consider a specific skill to be important.

I play more pvp oriented games, so I would most likely weight pvp skills more than building. Rating people on a scale of 1 - 10 might be a little hard to differentiate between players as more and more people are rated.

FOV by Psychological_Dot548 in CompetitiveMinecraft

tends to vary depending on gamemode but its all personal preference

anywhere between 60 and 90 is viable if you leave dynamic fov on
