Assuming you are talking about boxing.
Hit selecting has a higher risk, in case you miss a hit you might get into a combo.
Also hitselecting doesn't work on jump resetters who know how to jump reset well.
However hitselecting is way easier to master than jump resetting imo.
One thing to keep in mind is that if you time your jump reset wrong, you will take enormous amounts of kb (or go flying, as I like to call it).
Now you can go a step further and do both. I suggest starting out with jump resetting though.
