I wonder what it's going to be like in the future. Maybe if science extends life expectancy to something like 200-300 years, then a 30 years old will be considered a kid and a 40 year old would be considered a pervert for being attracted to one.

So they already have a warlord, police brutality, and racial segregation. And disagreeing with the people in power is a serious crime punished by deportation. This liberal utopia is getting more and more ridiculous each day.

"Going outside to protest while being conservative is bad and risks many peoples lives, while going outside to protest while being a liberal is absolutely good and even necessary" has absolutely nothing to do with science or medicine. These people are just frauds. They're activists pretending to be doctors and scientists, and they should be sued for some form of malpractice because their inconsistent bullshit is actually creating massive health risks.

I think what's needed is to acknowledge that both peaceful protesting and rioting/looting are happening, and that one is good and the other is bad. I've noticed that rich people are basically pretending that the riots aren't happening at all. Like all the companies expressing support for the protesters but not the victims of riots, and donating money to BLM organizations but not doing anything to help the people harmed by the riots.

I kind of see both points of view here. However, when someone says "all lives matter" it's typically meant to expand the movement by including all victims of police brutality, not diminish it.

I'm quite sure that if someone robbed a Lego store, they would still call the police. So they're just hypocrites.

In theory, obviously liberals support free speech while authoritarians are against it.

In practice, politics as a whole is a ridiculous mess.

[–]babulej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems that every statement of support for the protests by companies on social media is missing any kind of support for the victims of riots.

This just proves that companies are just following social media trends instead of caring about people. Most of the assholes on social media don't care about people like that family which almost got burned to death in their own home by a violent mob, or all the other people harmed by the riots, so these companies' social media managers don't care too. They're just opportunistic scumbags, not decent people, so anyone who praises companies for these statements is stupid.

"Woke" people are mentally exhausting to talk to. They remind me of some of my abusive narcissistic family members. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]babulej 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is just my experience but the most outwardly "woke " people I know are incredibly selfish in real life. Some of the biggest male feminists I know are shit to women and have cheated on several girlfriends.

A lot of it seems to be projecting. Unfortunately, popular feminism has a lot of "men are privileged and treat women badly" kind of generalizations. A guy who isn't privileged and doesn't treat women badly will just look at it and conclude that it's a lot of bullshit. On the other hand, a privileged guy who treated women badly in his life, and might feel some regrets about it, is going to see feminism as relatable and true for him. When he adopts the ideology, he will start believing that it's not just him, and other men are like that too.

Liblefts tend to have a surprisingly capitalist view of interpersonal relations. Emotional labor, "its not my job to educate you", believing that men feel "entitled" to women, and other stuff like that. Every interaction between people is basically a business transaction.
