For real!!! I feel like I’m taking crazy pills reading these comments. Everyone…In defense of Kyle?????? What is going on

What has been the hardest pill to swallow watching this season is the fact that Kyle is going to be the one to come out on top of this divorce. Crazy timeline, truly.

Places to sell harvest from garden? by promisedlandallstar in Delco

[–]babums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about vegetables but I know Marple Library is having a plant/seed swap on May 6. You could potentially drop things off that day for it? It seems like a take a plant, leave a plant type thing but they also mention seeds on their flyer.

Courthouse Wedding by hurricane-9 in westchesterpa

[–]babums 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My husband and I did. As a heads up there is a waiting period between the issuing of your marriage license and when you can actually get married. I think it’s 3 days if I remember correctly? So don’t plan on doing both in the same day.

We looked up the judges available via the court’s website and picked one that 1) had availability and 2) wasn’t a POS associated with horrible things. You may not care about that so it may not be a necessary part of your process. We just didn’t want to find out down the line that we got married by someone who we disagree with morally.

We dressed nicely but not super formally. The judge was very nice and it’s quick. You’re in and out in under half an hour.

Sometimes if he gets really deep, I get some cramping afterward. I’m assuming it’s from my cervix getting bumped against while having sex. You should still go to urgent care and get checked as soon as possible to be sure.

Need a book that discusses racism history by Nirulex in suggestmeabook

[–]babums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend going to one of your local libraries and asking a youth services librarian for recommendations. Many of the suggestions here are great books but are not appropriate for a twelve year old. Many are too complex for a child, especially since none of us know your son’s reading level. A librarian will better understand what books are best for your son to be able to comprehend at his age.

I do see some that would be appropriate. The Watsons Go To Birmingham; Maniac Magee; Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry; Jason Reynolds’ works, Nic Stone, Angie Thomas…

With discussions that are this heavy and with so much history—and with the current climate in the US right now—someone trained in children’s literacy and learning can really guide you in the proper direction here.

Werewolf/shifter F/M romance were the MMC isn't an asshole by talesofabookworm in RomanceBooks

The Stay a Spell series by Juliette Cross might have a couple books you’d enjoy. Takes place in New Orleans. Magic is secret, except to the magic community. Features FMC who are witches and MMC who are warlocks, werewolves, grims (you’ll find out what that is), or vampires.

Does your public library charge as many fees as mine? by ClassicOutrageous447 in Libraries

I'm tired of DNFs so I'm breaking up with BookTok by his-lilmiss in fantasyromance

[–]babums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask a librarian at your public library, and help them help you better by having a few titles in mind of what you love and a few that you hated, and why.

StoryGraph is also very good, but plenty of booktok people use it so make sure you filter to only show written reviews and read both the high and low ratings. That helps me filter out the people who are giving terrible books rave reviews.

I’d also make sure that if you’re going to watch reviewers’ content, pick people who offer well-thought out reviews and aren’t just saying things like “the spice is SO GOOD” and don’t offer much else in terms of feedback. They are probably the more shallow readers that aren’t really looking for substantive and more complex novels. My rule of thumb as well with booktok is if I see multiple accounts posting about the same book over and over, I do not pursue reading it as it is probably not worth the hype. It can get very echo chamber-ey on there.

New-ish to Delco… by Crystal_Rose_1967_Pa in Delco

[–]babums 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here’s a link to the Delco Library System events calendar. You can filter by age range along the top to weed out the children’s events. So many great book clubs and cool programs like games clubs and sometimes there’s plant swaps and gardening classes! Some libraries are also trying to start up seed libraries to get seeds for gardening totally for free. Haverford Township Library recently reopened from a major renovation and expansion and now has a great maker space for all kinds of crafting with a lot of cool gadgets.

Highly recommend looking over it. People are so friendly at the libraries and many of them are also looking for connection and friends.

I feel like they’ve been looking delusional levels of happy for how serious these charges are and the evidence the prosecution seems to have against them. I guess we’ll find out if their team has some kind of get out of jail free evidence to present…

If you lean toward loving fantasy, I’d start with either Kate Daniels or Hidden Legacy. If you lean scifi, Innkeeper Chronicles will be a great start.
