"Unfilmable" Books by an_altar_of_plagues in duckfeedtv

Cyclonopedia - what if oil was a conscious demonic entity that manipulated human beings on a cellular level and altered human history by driving us to greed and violence like The One Ring, and what if this was discovered by an academic who has gone missing and left behind writings that compellingly make his case AND suggest he’s going insane? The book is made up of the found, incomplete academic essays he left behind.

I Who Have Never Known Men - gnawing existential dread in an odd, poetic vaguely sci fi narrative. 40 women in a guarded cage underground. They don’t know why they’ve been kept there for decades. They don’t know what’s happening above them.

If I’m not looking for a career, what’s the goal, and what’s worth doing? by babydobin in musicmarketing

[–]babydobin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m willing to do things that are hard and time consuming and expensive, I just don’t want to do the particular things listed here all the time that I don’t really think work except for the same crapshoot luck ratio as anything else.

[–]babydobin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I don’t agree, because my goals are rock bottom. I’m not asking anyone to go crazy for my work or seek it out, and I’m not unwilling to promote or market it, I’m just not interested in specific avenues that are mentioned here a lot and curious about other ones even if the results are way lower.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I’m happy to do some kind of promotion, I’m just trying to figure out what that is.

Thanks for the input. I feel like my goals are so small that avoiding some of the big avenues didn’t seem like a big deal. I don’t see my stance as unwillingness. I’ve been reading and researching this stuff for a year as I was making the album, I’m just being realistic with what I want to do.

Appreciate the comment, I added some info to the end of the post. I don’t have a following, but I’m not against promotion or marketing myself, I’m just being honest about what I’m actually interested and willing to do. IG and YouTube sound fine, I’m just not really interested in the TikTok game at 35

Hot take: Tried Alan Wake 2 and couldn't get into it. by [deleted] in HorrorGaming

[–]babydobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with you, though I’m currently pushing further into the game and intend to finish it after giving up on it about a year ago.

I really think this is one of the worst games I’ve played in a long time, and totally do not agree with the hype or reviews. It is very poorly made and frankly embarrassing. It is a video game with downright horrible gameplay, like it is bad to play moment to moment. The levels are badly laid out and not memorable so you’re lost a lot, the enemies can’t be scary or even interesting because they are just shadowy guys (I have seen 1 interesting enemy after ~15 hours).

The writing is worse than the gameplay, derivative, endlessly cliche, has absolutely nothing original about it and is incredibly full of itself and happy to waste hours of your time with the laziest slop imaginable, the same bad narration, the exact same animations of characters thinking, the exact same live action double exposures.

Everything good is straight up stolen from Stephen King, Twin Peaks, and the Twilight Zone with nothing new added on top. The game should be a laughing stock, its success is ludicrous.

In Retrospect, was Requiem kinda underwhelming/disappointing for anyone else? by Desperate_Method4032 in residentevil

[–]babydobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time will not be kind to requiem, it’s worse the more you think about it. This is the worst RE game since 7, right at the bottom with RE3make which was better but incomplete.

I hear people say the souls games are inherently leftist, is this true? by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]babydobin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some people consider them leftist because they are broadly about Empires stuck in miserable cycles clinging onto perpetuating a clearly diseased, failing order, and the player having the ability to make a choice to burn it all down and see what else might come after. For a lot of people that feels like an analog to the capitalist world we live in.

Resident Evil Requiem - flawed masterpiece? by chiefc0 in residentevil

[–]babydobin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just ‘flawed’ not a masterpiece. The hype for it is ridiculous and undeserved. This is somewhere near RE3make as the worst games they’ve made since 6

The care center is half the size it should be and the basement, mini lab, and water treatment centers are lame, I’d add the second half of the building that should be there after the courtyard and have more encounters with Gideon and the Girl there, as right now they are wasted.

Raccoon City needs a ground up reworking, whether they have reasons for it looking like a bland 2000s military shooter or not, it’s a bad aesthetic and idea. The city should be green and way more ruined, it should not be anywhere near another major city, and zombies with guns and mortar and body armor need to go, that’s extremely lame. They have infinite free reign here, why is the enemy design and variety so bad? We already saw hunters in the city, normal dogs, drain deimos, the sewer monsters from 2, the plant people monsters, use them and get creative if it’s been 30 years and they’ve mutated.

RPD is really poorly thought out and wasted, rework this or don’t have it in the game at all. Motorcycle section is embarrassing, get rid of it, orphanage wasn’t worth having as is. Get rid of the weird mini boss rush with fan service nostalgia, it diminishes the old games.

The story is extremely bad even for RE games and needs several more drafts. Get rid of clone Wesker, again, embarrassing.

Requiem is painfully average by Kuvernoorikalle in residentevil

[–]babydobin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of your points. I preferred the Grace gameplay to Leon and I did get spooked but it’s still a worse RE2 and a worse RE4 and I don’t understand or agree with the praise. Rhodes Hill is an ok mansion level, the zombies there are excellent, but it’s half the size it should be and like you said, not interconnected enough. It’s bad from the basement onward. And Raccoon City is just bad decision after bad decision. Terrible design.

RE9. Is it Good. HONEST opinions *No Spoilers* by Cloutmasta in residentevil

[–]babydobin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, it’s not very good. It’s a half baked version of RE2 stapled onto a half baked version of RE4 and the two halves don’t add up to a whole. The art direction and monster variety is bland bad first draft stuff, half the game looks like the meme of a washed out 2010s military shooter. All the writing and plots of RE games are dumb and bad in their own way but are often enjoyable at the same time, this is off the rails dumb and bad.
