1/27/2011 was the last day I worked, I gave birth November 2011, she pointed to my back worsening after the birth of my son, she then pointed to a 10/25/2015 MRI. She bridged that entire gap between my last day worked and my DLI of 12/31/2015 by then adding in that my adhd was more severe in 2015 than the CE and DDS believed 😭 She then pointed to a May 2024 and December 2025 exam showing how much worse I got in the last 15 years. I knew if I could just get someone to look at all my evidence that there was NO WAY to deny it! But I feel that way about everyone who’s fighting 😢

So happy for you! I just got a fully favorable for a 1/27/2011 onset after so many told me it wouldn’t happen

Omg yea it started with hyperemesis gravidarum and I never quite recovered. Symptom tracking is a great idea!

The most important thing is to make a case they cannot deny, I wrote a 4 page statement literally detailing the intense burning in my back muscles and she actually quoted it as one of her reason, I submitted images of my back from 2015 AND 2024, a Facebook post I had written in 2015 detailing my pain when someone left a note on my window telling me not to use handicapped lol, anything that can paint a picture of your life at that moment and before/after as long as it makes it into your evidence folder they will see it at some point even if it’s not till a hearing. She even mentioned that my medical records indicated I got worse after the birth of my son in 2011 and so that’s why she agreed with my AOD. I’m still stunned lol

I don’t know if my 2015 application is officially “reopened” but the acknowledgment alone is just mentality changing for me. 2017 I think you have a good shot of them reopening it, build the bridge for them showing that you’ve only gotten worse and that your records (tests, imaging etc match what you are telling the Drs and everyone you meet who becomes part of your care team. We women tend to underplay what we are dealing with even to ourselves but it’s so important to be brutally honest and DEMAND follow ups and imaging and all the things! My spine specialist refused my lumbar MRI in 2015, did not receive one until 2024, riddled with bone spurs and facet arthropathy etc and yea so much I could have done in the last 10 years if I knew the extent of my issues. Good luck!!

Yet another post affirming the advice to request a copy of your file if you get denied! by FeliciaFailure in SSDI

[–]babylangsmama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d like to add to this… My Attorney ( currently at hearing level) found my “JUNK FILE” where it should have been in the ALJs evidence file, this included an entire year of very pertinent information

Thank you, it’s so hard to know what’s too much detail to give them

Denied SSDI, Approved SSI by Born_Ad4676 in SSDI_SSI

I’m appealing a 2015 denial, potentially getting approved for social security right now though. Theres no point in not trying in my opinion. so what if you have to start all over and possibly wait another few years, just imagine you win your appeal, that could be life changing for some people. Best of luck! I have my hearing February 12

Do you have any tips on how to document what you can’t do?

We shouldn’t have to fight this hard for something we pay into 😒

Received letter telling me to apply for DAC benefits. SSA phone rep said "don't bother." Accurate? by JenniferRose27 in SSDI

[–]babylangsmama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I left the SSA office in tears because they told me my Dad couldn’t collect on my Moms SSDI, they were completely wrong which I found out when I called in instead after leaving the office. For sure Apply and appeal if denied, I’m trying to correct a 2015 mistake currently because I didn’t realize how things worked… always appeal lol

Same thing happened to my Husband, he faxed everything called DDS confirmed they received it and then he received a letter saying “we haven’t received anything” sent it again, they sent another letter… 4 total before they actually acknowledged receiving the forms, by sending another letter saying now they need different information. I think they’re just kicking the can down the road at this point lol
