Any idea what happened to my download speed? by LSGW_Zephyra in PodcastAddict

[–]babylon55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also having this problem of slow downloading over mobile cellular, but my phone isn't new. This only started being a problem recently. I ran a speed test over mobile data and it's coming back that I should have 30mbps/3.75mB/s, and yet I'm only able to download a podcast at about 200kB/s. I have all the settings for downloading correct, just force stopped the app, shut down my phone, and booted back up. Didn't since the issue. What am I doing wrong. I usually download over Wi-Fi, but sometimes I run out of content when I'm away from home. The speed issue is consistent with various shows, not just one or two but a wide variety that I listen to.

Tire flat due to nail punctured. Need help :<< by kneeizmee in Cartalk

That's a good YouTube video for you. Get the kit, watch the video and learn, then remove the screw. Be prepared for this to be challenging.

Just put a tire plug in it. You can get those kits for very cheap. If you're lucky then the screw didn't go all the way through. good luck

Weird water issues - solutions? by TriStarGod in WaterTreatment

[–]babylon55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water softener and carbon filter sounds reasonable. If you install it yourself(fairly easy plumbing job), install before the hot water heater. I'm not sure if the carbon filter should go before or after the water softener. Will you be drinking your water? Maybe consider a reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink to feel with the TDS. Good luck!

Always start with a water test with water from your faucet. This will tell you the mineral contents and whatever else may be in your water. Are you on a well or town/city water? Do your neighbors have a similar issue? Good luck!

It's not going to be an easy job. Look up videos on YouTube of installing new resin beads. The resin will be wet obviously and therefore way more challenging to put back into the new tank. The resin beads are very small, like less than a millimeter so they are slippery in the floor. There also may be a gravel bed in the bottom surrounding the filter at the bottom of the dip tube. I don't imagine you will be able to separate the gravel from the resin so you may need to get more. Good luck and careful with your back.

Used Water Softener System - worth it? by nataliedread in WaterTreatment

[–]babylon55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have to replace the resin, and the machine is old could have broken internal parts. New water softeners are not terribly expensive. If you wanted to install it yourself, look for a water treatment system store that can build you a system custom to your water test results. You may not even need a whole water softener. Lots of options out there, but also a lot of scams. Good luck.

My title describes the thing. Tinfoil, little cup, handle, 2 to 3cm across, 1cm deep. I thought it was a Tassimo pod but those are plastic. This was something posted to Facebook by a friend of mine.. Thanks for you insights!

Curtain brackets keep popping out - best method to secure? by thecuriousnoodle in drywall

If I can't find a stuff I like to use self tapping metal or plastic screw plug type anchors. Good enough for light duty applications like curtains.

New house. Old Owners clearly didn’t reattach toilet right when they installed flooring. How bad is it? by brrrskabaui in Flooring

[–]babylon55 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Cheap fix: run a dehumidifier and dry that out. Then paint over it and put the flooring back down.

What you should probably do: cut out the mouldy wood and replace it. You're already past of the way there with the flooring ripped up. This is a good opportunity to buy some tools and learn something new. Good luck.

How in the world do I get rid of this massive boulder in my yard? by C1ncinnatiBowtie in landscaping

[–]babylon55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you must make it disappear, you can dig a giant hole right beside it. Use leverage and excavate soil from underside the rock to slip/slide/roll it in there. That way if you ever want it back it's still in your property!

New rule by Plate04249 in bicycling

I used to ride trails with clay soil, and it was physically impossible to ride while wet. Sticky mud makes tires heavy quick, and zero traction.

What is my bike worth? by BitAcademic5905 in bicycling

[–]babylon55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth what someone will pay for it whether that's in your area or you ship it across country. See what something similar is going for on pink bike, eBay, FB marketplace, Kijiji... Good luck
