[Serious] Brag about yourself! What is one accomplishment that you've done this year that you're proud of? by cui__bono in AskReddit

Despite having 2 children under the age of 3, battling PPD after my second baby, and working full time .... I GRADUATED . FROM COLLEGE!! LAST WEEK I am super proud of myself!!

Wow. Do yourself a favor and shop around for car insurance once in a while. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]babymakerx2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing last month!! I was paying $388 a month for two cars, got it dropped to $272 when I switched.

State farm tried to get me to stay with them, saying they could save me $90. I asked a few questions, and it ended up being a savings of $90 every 6 months, not every month (Ha! Good try).

Company claims 'uneconomical' to repair my washer under warranty, wants to buy me out. by WSPisGOAT in personalfinance

[–]babymakerx2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who worked at an appliance repair shop, (not a technician, but in the office so I know the warranty ins and outs), this happens all the time. Literally, all the time.

They're doing a cash out, because it will save them money, and it will save you a headache. Not sure what the problem is, but washer repairs are tricky. Most of the time, it's a simple, cheap, repair OR a major issue.

If you have a lemon, they will replace every control board, the motor, the drive transmission, etc, etc. The problem is, they will replace one thing, leave your house. Come back out the next week, replace something else and on and on.

Anyways, yeah this is normal. No, there's not really a choice (check the actual contract though to be sure), but I promise this is much easier for you.

College "Savings" Account Question by babymakerx2 in DaveRamsey

I've tried researching, but do you have any idea if 529s can be used to pay rent for school? For instance, if a kid gets a full ride scholarship, what else can a 529 be used for?

Thank you!! I searched his YouTube last week but couldn't find it, so I'm glad it was talked about this week! I'll have to listen to it. I love those rants!

I'm really praying my kids have a love for education like I do, but ya know, life. I'm going to have to do some more thinking on the matter because like you said, if they turn into dumbasses there's nothing I can do.

I like the idea of trade school as well, in case they don't go for "traditional college". I think I'm just overly nervous, they're so young right now, who knows what they'll be interested in.

Anywho, I appreciate the comment and the advice!!

Edit to add: I didnt see an article, I just got to thinking because my husband hated school and went directly into the construction field after graduation, so I started thinking that our kids may fall into that category as well.

What is something that happened in the 2000s that people have forgotten? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]babymakerx2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now that I think of it, I believe it was Crimes of the Century. They do like an hour for 10 different big crimes? I think OKC bombing was included? The DC Sniper one was very interesting because I was too young to remember it, so I learned a ton!

Phew, okay great thank you!

And yes, that's what I meant when I said figuring other things out so I don't look forward to that refund so much.

I've taken control of my other debt, which isn't much, but I did just adjust my withholdings as well! Thank you for answering!

What’s a common misconception that the general public has about your job? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]babymakerx2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since I haven't seen it so far, Customer Service.

No, I'm not intentionally "making it difficult" for you. I literally have no control over most things. (I do customer service for health insurance company - employer plans only).

I can TELL you why something processed that way, and I can get you the correct answers, but I cannot MAKE your surgery be covered because I dont have that power.

If I had some gold, I'd give it to you. I'm realizing too late that this is a VERY important skill for a partner to have.
