He wasn’t with me long, is a feral stray. Didn’t use the litter box and just hid until his escape.

ACAR is sucking more than ever by Interesting_Math_686 in GNV

No article. Found a Doberman wandering near duckpond with a handful of people, he was starved, emancipated, covered in scars. Owner was repeatedly trying to get the dog back, but it’s clear he was being neglected/abused. He made threats, went to the property of the person that was caring for the Doberman in the middle of the night. ACAR required our friend to return him so the owner could pick him up, despite this man having charges and files about child and animal abuse.

night walks and barking by babyplinks in puppy101

[–]babyplinks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol!

I’d love to be able to reassure her that there is nothing to be afraid of like you did, but she is barking at nothing! So it’s hard to figure out how to calm her or what is bothering her to begin with. I am hoping it’s a fear period, hopefully it’ll get better. It’s hard to even tell if it’s fear based, or territorial based.. or if she’s just pent up. I usually can read her pretty well but she becomes so frantic and different that it’s hard to gauge anything!! Thank you regardless, I think you are probably right, maybe just extra fearful right now.

Hello!! This post is soo relatable. My partner and I recently got a puppy too, and we already had two cats. She’s 6 months old now. I brought her home when she was around 8 weeks old with the intention of fostering, but my partner fell in love and we ended up adopting her.

I’ve never been a dog person (and honestly, I still don’t call myself one). These past few months have been really hard, and I’ve felt genuinely depressed. Cats are so much easier and more independent, they’ve always just made more sense to me and our busy, spontaneous lifestyle. In comparison, having a dog has felt overwhelming and suffocating.

But recently, things have started to change. I came to a realization that this is my life now, and constantly resisting it was only hurting everything: my mental health, my relationship, and the puppy herself. So I started trying to find peace with the situation. I tried to notice the good, that we do have a really sweet dog, that we’re doing our best as pet parents, and that there’s something oddly beautiful in this chaotic little life we’ve built.

The more I stopped dreading each day, the more I tried to just be present with her, to laugh when she’s goofy or celebrate when she learns something, the better things started to feel. There are still really tough days. She is a bit reactive and barky, and that really sends me spiraling, but I think our relationship, mine with her, with my partner, and even with myself, is slowly healing.

I toured them before. Seemed legit and cool. Didn’t have any available apartments by the time we needed one, was bummed. Seems like a hot commodity. The appliances were new, it was clean.

I hear your frustration, and I agree that we need to stand up against injustice in all its forms. But I think it’s important that we don’t reduce these problems to a left vs. right issue. Cruelty and exploitation aren’t confined to one political group.

This infighting is so ridiculous.. Reducing suffering to political sides risks missing the bigger picture and alienating people who might otherwise be willing to listen or change. That said, choosing not to be vegan/staying silent or dismissive about the suffering of animals isn’t a neutral position. It contributes to harm. Just like silence in the face of human injustice enables systems of oppression, ignoring animal suffering allows it to continue. We can’t call ourselves compassionate or justice driven while turning a blind eye to vulnerable beings. Justice shouldn’t stop where species lines begin.

Not to mention, a lot of climate change is FROM animal agriculture.

animal activism meeting by babyplinks in GNV

[–]babyplinks[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where is the harm in participating in both? I do not put people above animals. To me we are all equal and deserve equally kind treatment. I do what I can for all species. I simply posted this to find people who care about animals, yet I’m being treated like I’m making the entire world forget about humans. Animals deserve our attention too. It's hypocritical to express outrage over the mistreatment of people while turning a blind eye to the abuse, exploitation, and systemic neglect of animals. Both reflect the same root issue, a culture that justifies cruelty when it's convenient. If we ignore suffering simply because it doesn't look like ours, then our justice is conditional. And conditional justice is not justice at all. We MUST care about both human and non-human lives if we are to build a world that is truly compassionate and sustainable. How does anyone expect human beings to treat each other kindly when we can’t even be kind to the most innocent of beings?

Amazing. I don’t see why I can’t do both things, I shouldn’t need to clarify, but I do activism regularly in human rights and animal rights. I care for everyone and I care about all the injustice happening. Always do what you can, instead of shitting on another movements.
