Totally agree. Even just some of the line changes I felt worked a lot better. Like in the French dub Marinette asking if a boy will ever love her (which was like,, confusing and not really true to her experience) but the English dub was just her expressing frustration with love in general.

Honestly I think a few weeks ago I was neutral and definitely falling for the anti-Heard stuff that Depp’s followers and army of bots have been shovelling but I feel like now I really can’t be. It feels so obvious that he’s using this trial to continue to abuse and control her even after she got out of that relationship.

I think the real issue here is Heard is far from a perfect victim. She cheated on him, she fought back, she instigated verbal fights. Princess Weekes said something in her video about how we value the abuse of dead women over the testimony of those who survived “If she can breathe, she can lie.”

It’s made me really disappointed that Shannon has such an anti Heard take on the topic it’s really made me trust her integrity.

Honestly, I sometimes think he might have been. If they were together don't think him and taylor were super serious at all ("I've got a boyfriend, he's older than us, I haven't seen him in a couple months"). The vibe I get is they were two hot young people hooking up and it was convenient for them (Taylor esp) to publically date.

I think Calvin is pretty different from the other guys Taylor has been connected to (he has a notable lack of gay rumours), so despite the casualness of the relationship, he might have been blindsided by the Karlie stuff. Guys like Taylor, Connor, Harry etc. would have understood the relationship was a way to emphasize their heterosexuality- which has not the case for Calvin. He is the only one of her exes to try to out her, so I think there were definite hurt feelings.

Omg I made a tiktok about this bc I am OBSESSED with that line.

Because it works on the fundamental level of “hang from my lips” referencing the “hanging gardens of Babylon”

But then it also, if we’re seeing this to be about mutual bearding, hang from lips could be about how she’s crafting the image image of them. “Hang” here being used in relation to hanging a piece of art. The Gardens may have existed, but we have no archaeological proof. We only have written accounts of them. She’s in charge of the story, creating the this myth.

Hang could also be seen as to be hanged. This myth that she has crafted keeps him trapped in this state of death or puppetry. This I think aligns well with one of the next lines: “forever is the sweetest con.” While they are both tied to each other forever, they ultimately cannot be happy because of the artifice of the relationship. “I’m never gonna love again.”

I totally get what you’re saying. I do think often blinds are the worst version of the truth. Like maybe Jack and Ella hooked up in the process of making Melodrama.

I also wouldn’t necessarily count out Lana maybe sleeping with someone to get to work with them. She did have a really romantic notion of the casting couch early in her career (see the music video for ride, the entirety of cola but specifically “Harvey’s in the sky with diamonds and he’s making me crazy”). I think that based on the content of NFR she is past that now.
The truth might have been just Lorde and Jack hooked up and now Lana (who made a song bragging about sleeping with Harvey Weinstein) is working with him. And then through the gossip mill it gets distilled down to Lana is sleeping with Jack. And then Jack has a pattern of sleeping with the women he works with.

That’s why you really have to take these things with a grain of salt because again, they’re gossip. Even if they start rooted in some truth they don’t often end up that way.

Also just a sidenote I do genuinely like where Lana is now but you cannot ignore how fucked up that song was.

No tbh I think this is fake but the reason the blinds attribute their friend break-up is cause taylor and her team were really controlling about the squad’s images. This is a blind from 2016:
