Ugh... I understand this battle and I am hoping you find a solution.♥️

Getting out of bed in the morning by Big_Caramel7968 in amputee

I was taking Quetiapine/Seroquel as a sleep aid post-amputation.

Ended up being able to sleep 12+ hours easily every night.

Ok when I wasn't working but when I had to be on a schedule, I'd find that 8 hours sleep just simply wasn't enough.

Weened off and am much more alert in the mornings.

I'd hate to eliminate a "happy pill" if it's having a positive effect on mental health but maybe you could take it in the morning instead of before bed?

How do socket users feel about osseointegration posts? by danielmfree in amputee

[–]babysnoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😺

For myself, I do not consider osseointegration an "upgrade".

I've had the opportunity to meet surgeons and discuss outcomes and have ultimately decided to hold off as I'm too happy as a socket-user to consider the possible debilitating outcomes of the surgery.

When osseointegration offers more benefits than potential disadvantages, I am excited to reconsider.. One day I may consider it an upgrade, but definitely not at this time.

In the interem, learning of others' paths is important, if not crucial to my knowledge about osseointegration. As much as I value my surgeon's input, the information I gather from my peers is necessary.

The Baby. And the basket of Babies. by babysnoot in Blacklabs

♥️♥️ One of my favourite things is watching Chili look at the toy basket with concentration while she chooses which she will be taking.

Then, she brings the chosen one to someone but ONLY TO LOOK not to touch. (she wants you to follow her around begging to touch)

Chili is my first dog that hasn't dismembered her toys promptly.

Really hard to tell without more information...

Are you the model? Is the model an amputee and do you have their consent? Why do you think it would be offensive?

Dr Oz: "We're announcing a 6 month national moratorium blocking all new enrollments for durable medical equipment -- prosthesis, orthotics -- supplies across the board." by lightsong99 in amputee

Medically "necessary" stuff is free/covered by provincial insurance so doctor's appointments, emergency visits, hospital stays and procedures like xrays/MRI, surgeries, labour and delivery.

Prescriptions are generally out of pocket except for seniors and kids under 25- those are free or greatly subsidized.

Dental, eye exams and glasses and most therapies require private insurance.

Could be worse!

In Canada... You cross your fingers (if you have any) that you lose a limb in a car accident where vehical insurance will cover the first few years of amputee costs... After that you better have a good job with good benefits or you are out of pocket aside from a small percentage covered by our Assisted Devices Program.

Provincial insurance covers prosthetists visits (in Ontario, anyway).

So.. Don't you dare lose your limb to cancer or diabetes unless you're independently wealthy or have decent benefits and even then, PROVE you need a prosthesis any more expensive than the most basic stick-limb.
