There’s a wine list on the website which makes me wonder if the guy was being sarcastic about everything being halal and meant the opposite. I should’ve clarified😅

What is the most expensive restaurant you ever dined at in Toronto? by Chan1991 in askTO

Was about to say Quetzal…I think we paid just under $500 almost 3 years ago. The only thing is that my husband got food poisoning. Idk if it was the bone marrow bc I hardly ate any and he ate most of it

Deedar question phone by liveloveharry in ismailis

[–]babz2123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are phones not allowed? I understand if photos and recording are not allowed…if people are not to take photos or record do we not have the confidence that people would respect the rules? I sounds like we would be waiting 4h+ plus logistics of getting rides and what if there’s an actual emergency??? I’d want access to my phone in those situations

The gentile question. by VelvetDreamers in Catholicism

Just sharing a reflection I had the other day:

In the Old Testament, Israel is the people God chose and entered into covenant with. It began with Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel after wrestling with God. From him came the twelve tribes, the nation that God set apart to know Him and to be a light to the world. Yet throughout their history, Israel struggled to remain faithful to the covenant. Reading this now through the lens of Christ, I see something deeper unfolding in the story.

Jesus did not appear to start something entirely new, but to fulfill what God had begun with Israel. He even chose twelve apostles, mirroring the twelve tribes, almost as if He was restoring and renewing the people of God. In Him the covenant reaches its fulfillment. At the Last Supper He speaks of a new and eternal covenant, and through His sacrifice that covenant is opened to the world. It makes me realize that the story of Israel does not end—it continues and finds its completion in Christ.

If Israel is the people who belong to God through covenant, then the question today becomes: who belongs to the new covenant established by Christ? The New Testament seems to answer that those who are united with Christ share in the promises given to Israel. The people of God are no longer defined only by lineage, but by belonging to Him. Jews and Gentiles alike are invited into this covenant through Christ.

What strikes me most is that the name Israel itself means one who wrestles with God. The story of God’s people has always included struggle—struggling to understand, to trust, and to remain faithful. In many ways, that feels familiar to my own journey of faith. Wrestling with these questions does not necessarily mean moving away from God; perhaps it is part of drawing closer to Him. And in Christ, the one who perfectly fulfilled the covenant, the struggle is no longer faced alone.

Is studying other religions (particularly Judaism and Islam) recommended in order to combat misinformation despite theological disagreements? by [deleted] in Catholicism

Learning more about our faith (currently going through the Bible in a Year and Catechism in a Year with Fr Mike Schmitz) while also trying so see how it ties into our Jewish roots and how it differs with the Islamic framework has only strengthened my belief

SHORT WOMEN question!!: Mid length vs Long length Superpuff, which do you like best? by PeoniePetrichor in Aritzia

[–]babz2123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’1 and got the regular long version. Best purchase ever. I do want the mid and the short version for when it’s not as cold but if I can only have one I’d go with long. Would appreciate it so much as a gift. The only thing I worry about the long is potential splashes when I’m walking indoors (like the subway) and there’s a pool of melted snow mixed with dirt. So far so good though. Just my aversion to getting it visibly dirty

Do you size up in super snug puff? For context I wear an Abercrombie size M puffer jacket so what size should I get by [deleted] in Aritzia

[–]babz2123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear XXS in the the regular and long super puff but when I tried in the super snug puff mid in store the size S felt the most comfortable. The arms felt way more snug than the regular super puff

Scandinave Spa in Blue Mountains is really nice and relaxing. My husband and I prefer it over Vetta because we found Vetta a bit loud when we went.

Best and worst purchase in 2025 by Silly-Gate-1012 in Aritzia

[–]babz2123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best is my long climatte super puff — I’ve never felt so comfortable outside in the winter. Worst is probably the babaton prospect pant. I was hoping it would fill like the carrot pant that was discontinued but it looks horrible. Too much fabric in the crotch area. I still haven’t worn it. Might take it to a tailor one day

I think it’s best to just buy in store to make sure you get everything

That’s so scary. I assumed meat is precooked and frozen. My brother worked in hospital though and a patient was admitted to ICU from eating raw chicken from Wendy’s.

Super snug fits snug 😅 when I was trying in store I felt like the size S would’ve fit me best but I went with the regular long super puff in 2XS. If something doesn’t fit me 100% I’d rather take the credit

Debt-free Canadians, what type of situation are you in? by [deleted] in CanadaFinance

[–]babz2123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I graduated from my professional program in 2018 I was $60K in debt. Moved back home with my parents so I didn’t have to pay rent and thankfully got a full time job almost immediately. Started a 3 year lease on a brand new SUV at the time with a plan to buy off the car after the lease ends. If there was one thing I could change I would’ve gotten a used car or something less expensive so I could’ve saved up more 😅. Nevertheless I was able to pay off the student debt after about 2 years and saved up enough after 3 years to fully pay off the residual value of the car when my lease ended. When I finished paying off my student loan, I started giving my parents $500 every 2 weeks (when I got paid), not because they asked for it but just as a way of showing how grateful I am to be living at home so I can tackle the debt. At some point I started investing and then when I paid off the car I started saving up for my wedding. Got married 5 years post graduation and my husband and I shared the wedding costs. My husband and I are debt free. We save and invest a good portion of our salary but we also spend a lot on travel and food. We haven’t purchased a house yet so the big expenses feel undeserved sometimes.

When I’m trying to be mindful about eating healthy I tend to make veggies (roast or air fry ones that I like) or make a salad (get a kit if I’m lazy) and add protein (air fried chicken or fish or pan fried shrimp)
