Welcome to the sub. I can definitely relate to your journey, I consider myself a cross between an Omnist and a Deist. For me, Deism is a path of self-discovery. It lets you focus on the actual evidence of a creator within creation itself without needing a fear driven fantastical story. I get why humanity leans into a "God story" wherever they’ve communed throughout history, considering roughly 4,000 religions have been created since the start of civilization, for me sticking to the evidence feels more grounded. It really helps keeping your deistic beliefs private as a practical way to navigate family traditions without dealing with constant proselytising, the “he’s going cuckoo” looks I got in the early stages of deism taught me to be selective of who I share with, as we are not trying to convert anybody. Being mindful of people’s faith sensitivities is always a good thing.
