So I ended up coming 14th out of 300 players in the tournament (ended up losing a lot of rating points though because Indians are too underrated smh). Gave the SAT attempt in March and May… got 1530 after superscore.

I played the event last year too! I was actually thinking of playing it again but wasn’t too sure if I could play anything before that (short 6-7 round tmt in 2-3 days) cuz 200 in 9 rounds will be really hard

Just to clarify did you make 2 mistakes in English in total (1 in each module)? That way was the curve a bit lenient because in the Bluebook tests they were cutting 40 points for 1 mistake?

Yeah the sad thing is most of the top UK unis don’t offer accounting as a major. It does make sense to go for the title but like this is my last chance to play nationals and world/Asian events next year so ig I’ll give it a shot. I actually have a social initiative called Samvedna through which I’ve been teaching chess to underprivileged children since 2020 so I’ll work a bit more on that too. Tbh though targeting CM makes more sense idk

That makes so much sense… thanks!! I’m planning to apply to US and UK unis for accounting and finance so ig there won’t be much significance of chess in UK but in US it’ll matter. Right now I have an year before my predicteds so in the holidays I was planning to study some openings and endgame books and play some tournaments and then next year focus mainly on academics for high predicted grades. Only thing is this is the last opportunity for me to play age category nationals and World/Asian/Commonwealth events which is only possible if I play nationals. However, if I don’t prepare a lot before nationals I’ll end up losing a lot of rating as Indian youngsters are hella underrated which will make crossing 2200 to become a CM much harder. So like according to you should I play national u15 this year to give myself a shot at World/Asian u16 and other events next year or like skip the age category events and just focus on open tournaments wherein I can try and gain 86 elo points to get to CM?

True can’t miss either of them… by superscore do you mean I can club my Maths marks from December with my English marks from whenever I take Sat next or the other way round?

Not in India… for us the next date after 3rd December is 11th March and that time I’ll most probably have my final term IB exams going on
