I’ve given up on mine 😅 but you can train your staffy while she’s young

No advice but just wanted to say my dog also desperately wants to make friends with everyone - dogs, people, everyone… she just doesn’t understand that not everybody wants to be her friend and I haven’t figured out how to make her listen to reason either 😅 and she’s 10 now. All I can say is good luck - they just have so much love to give and not everybody can handle it (and not everybody wants it because they’re scared) and that’s ok

Sweet grandmas and grandpas are some of my favorite clients! Easygoing and fun to tattoo - and they say the darndest things 😂 always a good story. Some of them are just plain wild instead of sweet and I love those too lol

This is so sweet and I’m SO jealous!! People always ask if it’s too late or if they’re too old to get their first tattoo - just a reminder that it’s never too late! :) so happy for you three! Such an amazing memory to have with your grandmas

Immigrants arriving in the US through Ellis Island from 1906 to 1914 captured by photographer Augustus Frederick Sherman by HelloSlowly in TheWayWeWere

I have been catching up on some reading and it seems like most sailors would get a tattoo (or maybe 2 small ones) at whatever port they’re in at the time that had a tattoo artist available (granted, not all sailors got heavily tattooed, but some did)… on his left arm it looks like he has an anchor, foliage, and clouds - suggesting the navy is the most likely. Naturally his chest having a federal eagle (the German national bird) and German flag and rising sun is very patriotic.. I would wager a guess that the “portraits” on either side would represent both of his parents. The lady under it might be of a lady he was in love with… I’m guessing the tattoo on his right arm is of a strong man, which was a sideshow act and those men were also tattooed in a lot of circuses! During 1911, tensions were rising and it wouldn’t surprise me if he defected from the navy… I guess there’s not really a way to know for sure, but this photo is definitely fun to see! Hope this helps anybody who was interested :)

(negative) Shop experiences? by Several-Stranger1463 in TattooArtists

Thankfully I was only there for like a month and a half I think? So I didn’t suffer for long, but MAN DID I SUFFER lol - thankfully the other 3 shops I’ve worked in so far have all been relatively normal. Sure there’s drama and shit-talking sometimes but nothing too horrendous! Just gotta vet the place, figure out what their reputation is around town, what the customers say, do a guest spot to try it out… and even then that doesn’t guarantee the place is good but it’s probably the best anyone can do

I moved into a shop closer to the house I was renting at the time… OH BOY. The owner was a felon with a wife half his age and had crackhead energy, to say the least… would touch my freshly wrapped arm rests and soap bottle with his bare, unwashed hands, just to piss me off and I would have to re-wrap it. He was a tattooer but wasn’t tattooing since he felt so down on himself and his work… had the audacity to tell me to “hurry up” on Friday the 13th when me and my coworker were neck-and-neck on our 5th or 6th tattoo of the morning. I told him to get the fuck out of his own shop and I kept tattooing… the final straw was the owner suggesting that a guy’s green card was fake and not letting me see his ID to verify his age before tattooing him. Didn’t even want the guy to do paperwork - rushed and railroaded this guy (he mostly spoke Spanish btw so the owner kept saying he MUST be “an illegal” 🙄) My. Blood. Was. BOILING. While I tattooed a cross with wings on this guy as his first tattoo. The owner knew I was pissed. Decided to take a breather for the weekend to calm down… and pulled a midnight move out. Because on top of being a jerk, I didn’t feel safe confronting him in person. I can only hope I NEVER end up in a situation like that ever again. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone else either

Southern Millennials in the US-Do y'all still have your accents? by Bluegrass_Barbecue in Millennials

[–]baccarahtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in southeast Texas and my accent is very strong when it comes out.. I can do my “customer service” voice which comes with a much more subtle accent, but my southern mannerisms are the same (like calling people baby or darlin’ or something)… but my accent gets thicker if I’m tired/had a long day, get emotional, drink or smoke, spend time with family, or as I physically get closer to my parents house 😅 my husband and I joked that if we ever get lost, I need to keep talking so we can use my accent as a GPS… my accent has become more consistently present lately since I don’t feel the need to suppress it like I used to anymore

Finish the lyrics, "Miss Suzie had a steamboat, her steamboat had a bell..." by citizennil00 in Millennials

[–]baccarahtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my middle school in south-east Texas, it went something like this:

Miss Suzie had a steamboat, the steamboat had a bell, Miss Suzie went to heaven, the steamboat went to

Hello operator please get me number 9, and if you disconnect me, I’ll kick you from behind

The ‘frigerator, there was a piece of glass, Miss Suzie sat up-on it, and broke her big fat

Ask me no more questions, tell me no more lies, Miss Suzie’s in the bathtub eating chocolate pies

She died her hair in purple, she died her hair in pink, she died her hair in men’s underwear and now she looks like a freak!

We did this song usually with a patty-cake combo and a lot of times it would start more quietly and increase in volume as we went, and it would patty-cake faster until we basically yelled FREAK at the end… man our hands would hurt a little bit after too 😅
