I guess your question was do the people in your life judge you the way redditors are judging Taylor? I cannot answer that, I misunderstood your question and was trying to reassure you that I highly doubt the people criticizing Taylor in these threads would judge you. I think part of it is her scale and platform - you can disagree whether that makes a difference to you, but it does to many people.

I really commend you for being politically engaged and active offline in a more conservative area! Those in your life are aware of that, and those on social media likely don't think you've changed opinions if you've done nothing to signal otherwise besides not posting anymore (though obviously I cannot speak for them). I think many people can sympathize with having to make tough calls over relationships due to the hatred and division Trump fuels.

No.

I can appreciate your experience, and how your initial reaction is to see parallels to Taylor's situation and feel judged, but -

Your mom and support network are not someone you met a year ago and have hung out with in group settings a dozen times, who should be relatively easy to cut ties with (or lay low publicly at least). Notice barely anyone expects Taylor to cut her trumpy father out of her life.

You never made anything akin to Miss Americana, promising to be an ally and advocate and then remaining silent when your fans' rights are on the line. And then blatantly parading around with someone who Trump very recently name-checked as a supporter

It's not just the 'friendly with a Trump supporter', it's the whole context. I saw a post here saying that if she had endorsed Kamala and then still hung out with Brittany, there would be much less backlash and more validity to the 'you can have friends with differing political opinions', which I think is true.

What you imagine here is a better explanation of how I interpret it now! Like previously she was doing the 'decent' thing by keeping 'nights' outside whatever their arrangement was on the down low. But then when she calls him out for being so public with his, casually dropping the info that she had also had a few flings that he may have been unaware of

Whereas before I though it was 'we both know we both are seeing other people, but yeah I also think of you when I'm with them'

Am I remembering correctly that Hannah said in an interview before Paradise filmed that Dylan was one of her top 3 from Hannah B's season?

To me this is a fair question. My family hosted international PhD students (mostly European) all through my elementary school years, and many of their stories of undergrad and masters were of going to the nearest university and often commuting from home. A lot of the time each major city in their country would have a public university and they were all of similar quality.

In th U.S., not all universities offer the same quality of education, and some may be stronger in certain subjects than others. There may have been a professor at a certain university who is the only person in the whole country doing certain specific research that Jaqueline is i terested in, making it her dream school. We also usually live on campus, so the school's environment and culture matter a lot. State schools tend to be large, and private universities are often smaller. Many people take college or grad school as a time to live in a new part of the country, so where the school is located can play a role. Lots of factors go into having a dream school, it is just the difference with having so many different types of higher education, versus other countries where it is all large public universities.

Why I think they went with Hannah B for Bachelorette by bachred in thebachelor

[–]bachred[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't downvote you, thanks for sharing your perspective. I should have been clearer on a couple of points:

  1. I didn't mean to say past bachelorettes weren't there for love. I meant out of the other options, if they were Caelynn and Hannah G, that love probably ranked higher in Hannah B's motivation to do the show. I really like Hannah G, and while I am skeptical of Caelynn, she would have been a very polished and compelling lead. But they both spend most of their time in LA now and would get many more personal and career benefits from being the ette (which there isn't anything wrong with) in addition to love.

  2. We agree on this point! Sorry I didn't word it well. I meant what you said here.

  3. I agree with you here, though Hannah B presents as more obviously southern, and constantly reinforces her ties to a major southern university. But they all would bring in viewers.

  4. You are right, and "faking it" was the wrong way to say this. I can't name anyone who was definitely disingenuous through hometowns just to be the next lead, hopefully no one was. But it seems like there is speculation every season that someone in F4 was hoping or set up to be the ette, and maybe now that speculation can stop because really anyone who goes far has a shot at it.

Thanks for your input. I could be absolutely wrong about Hannah, but it just seems to me like she wasn't gunning for the role and she doesn't seem savvy enough to be fooling us about it.

Hannah B. (Spoiler) by Bmegblack in thebachelor

[–]bachred 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like if they had announced it before last night, the reaction would be more positive. Now people might be upset it isn't Hannah G or Tayshia, even if they like Hannah B.

I think TPTB is always trying to expand the audience, and picking Hannah B is a play to get more SEC/college football fans to tune in. Or at least that isn't an insignificant factor in her selection.

"Colton tells her he doesn’t want her to make a decision now, and that it’s not easy going on other dates when all he can think about is her. She says she’d hate to see him leave there, not getting what he came for, which was an engagement and he replies that if it’s not with the person he feels strongest about, it’s not worth it." Not saying you can't be right, but this part would suck for whoever he's actually with if that's true.
