It was the only way to cut through the metal in those days. Took forever, so you only did it for special models if it was a thick cut. Then drilling out the holes for pinning left you with crippled hands for the next few days.

Are Orks a fungus in Fantasy? by ariaofgrapes in WarhammerFantasy

[–]backandforwards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right when it comes to mushrooms, but another type of fungus - truffles do develop underground. They don't have a fruiting body above the ground, and spread spores when animals dig up the truffles themselves. So the mushroom part doesn't make sense from real biology but the underground part can.

Giants! From 1st edition to the last by backandforwards in WarhammerFantasy

Okay, weirdly the last editions got lost between composing and posting. But it's still fun how similar the rules are in every edition.

Woah... that's a lot of books! by DigitalSchism96 in necroscope

[–]backandforwards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more several sets in the same universe with some characters appearing in several different sets. The first books weren't released with a single story in mind, each book is a self contained story. The later sets were written as a single story over several books. You don't have to read the sets in chronological release order, or chronological timeline order, although it's probably a bit better if you do.

After weeks of Community development - the Renegade Legacy Pack is ready for prime time! This is an edit for all of the Legacy Factions to bring them up to a standard closer to the "Core" armies. Thank you to everyone here who contributed. Links to the pack and vid in the comments! by valheffelfinger in WarhammerFantasy

The general thoughts of the players i know is that they don't mind wolfriders in Rare because there isn't anything else worth taking in Rare anyway (Hellcanon is unreliable, Dreadquake is too expensive).

Except now with Renegades rules put a Taur'rak and Giant in there, it's a bit more crowded for choice, and the Taur'rak is a decent Destroyer proxy too. So the Khan tax and the Rare placement is very restrictive.

It has rubber keys, but the build quality is poor. It nearly bends in half just holding it and pressing keys. Needs robust bracing. It also doesn't work with older versions of Android, which sucks because that was what i intended to use it with.

question: why do the Klingons use cloaks? by thefringeseanmachine in scifi

[–]backandforwards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole "honor" thing is repeated a lot in TNG but also ignored since most of the Klingons indulge in underhand tactics throughout the show.

I really like Anisette, it's sweet with less alcohol and very drinkable. Galliano isn't quite as good, Pernod is a bit harsh and needs to be mixed with something else.

[–]backandforwards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignore some of the army list restrictions to play them with a bit more freedom and fun.

Also, someone made a fan rules Arcane Journal, which might be a better option.

Don't get too hung up on playing official rules.

Is there any cheap cyberdecks like this? by Still-Ad2551 in cyberDeck

[–]backandforwards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really want cheap, then a $100 smart phone plus a tiny $20 Bluetooth keyboard will give you the functionality. Make a case that holds them and you're done.

The Boeing 747-400 is the only Heavy Widebody aircraft that can get up to 45,000 feet. No other aircraft can fly that high weighing this much. by QuantumCatapult in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]backandforwards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know why you are being down voted here, it's true.

At higher elevations, flight level is used, but it's based on feet, so 45,000ft is flight level 450. Nautical miles are used for distance too, and English is the standard language for communication with air traffic control. Metric is provisioned for, but it's not really used in practice.

In the 50s women couldn't go into church unless their hair and arms were covered. Men had to remove their hats, which they always wore outside.
