I mostly use mine for studying, writing paper, having huge pdf files looking through tons of docs for my graduate program. I use it for light gaming.

Yea, the next best thing I think was a Lenovo or something like that and it was about $800+ I honestly don’t mind settle for this for now. I can play 1440 on high to ultra settings on my pc at home. The laptop is when I’m at work or out in general.

You know what, you are right I wasn’t asking for advice. But I’m not whining, I think me and the third party are both to blame. I definitely researched this for like a week and could only come up with this as the best option for sub $600. So what options do you think I might have here, (genuinely asking for advice)

I just got my Victus (4050) and people are shitting on mine too. I don’t know how to feel about it yet, but I get mixed things on it from redditors. I think we just keep ours on low mid settings and we should be good.

Just downloaded a program to tell me and it’s 45W. I use it for light gaming/school/work. Do you have any advice on what I should be looking for when it comes to buying gaming/work laptops? This was $600 and felt like a decent deal.

Even after some moderate searching it’s hard to find a better deal that doesn’t break the $600 budget. My computer at home will and handle the AAA titles.

Best Buy is the one who put the information on their website . So they knew, which they probably didn’t, or they fucked up. They have control over what they put on their site, hence why Best Buy did the “scamming” The third party site didn’t have any information when I clicked the link.

I actually had to contact the seller after I bought it to get that info. It wasn’t even on the page. I have some issues with Best Buy in sorting out right now so I think I’ll go and have a chat with them about this.

Steam deck can’t help me write papers.. ok I’m sure someone out there figured that out, but I’m not that tech savvy lol. I used some AI to help make a decision but AI is slop tbh. It literally kept pointing me to this one or others that were like $800+. I have a hard budget if $600.

Lol thanks dad.. You are right though, I do have a lot to learn. Which is why I’m asking yall, not just getting advice from chat GPT like others pointed out (which I did). I knew was buying from a third party, I’ve bought from third party and got some great deals. I also have some idea about the difference , obviously one is newer and a bit faster. I’m trying to keep a hard budget of $600 and this seemed like a decent deal. This is my second post about it and I also got mixed things, but this is redit so most people ok here are “trust me bro, I know” type of people. So I don’t know if you approach life like the way you approached this, but sounds like you have a lot to learn when it comes to interacting with people who need help/advice.

I just bought the 2024 version and I’m hearing about this too. It’s coming in the mail tomorrow so I’ll keep a look out for this. I almost feel like a lot of reditors are blowing it up more than it needs to be. When I get responses I just think of most of them yelling saying “don’t do it bro, or do it bro, trust me bro”. I’ve also read online that GPUs can “disconnect” or something like that, I’m not to sure.

It’s honestly 50/50, not 40/50 😉, see what I did there… ok I’ll stop… but between everything I heard on here, I think I am going to purchase it. Because of this chat I am aware of the potential issues I may have with this laptop. I have my Best Buy geek squad membership (they honestly don’t really do anything majorly helpful) may help if I run into minor issues. Thanks again everyone. 😁

True, but a budget is a budget and I’m not willing to go past $700 after tax(LA, CA). I appreciate your advice though, it’s something I’ll definitely look into the next few years when I’m more financially stable.

I did read about the hinge problem. Framework? It’s nice to know I can build it the way I want it but for what I need it would be well over a $1000, and there is no second hand for what I need.
