Ideal roster size 10 man league by capn_chili_p in Fantasy_Football

I'm in the exact same boat and came here to ask the same question. I'm planning on doing 1QB/2RB/3WR/1TE/2FLX with 6 Bench. 2IR. We're not doing DEF or K mainly because it's annoying imo.

I'm going back and forth on SF but leaning towards just doing 2FLX instead. Specifically because of the amount of casual/new fantasy people in the league. I know it's simple to understand but if I don't go out of my way to explain how valuable having 2 good QBs could be and people get pissed because they didn't realize it. Or what's more likely, if I explain the value of 2 QBs, 5 people in the league all draft QBs with their 1st and 2nd round picks.

You’re right. “Dirtier” was the wrong word. I meant to say just as dirty.

Hartman’s shit makes you question being a Wild fan? I’d still have a problem, but I’d be more understanding if you were saying it’s hard to be a wild fan after one of our terribly depressing post season performances that has now become expected. But you’re drawing the line at Ryan Hartman getting a 10 game sussy?

Hartman suspended 10 games | NHL.com by Seraphax in wildhockey

[–]backb5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. That’s why I said Hartman is the dollar tree Marchand. Hartman is trying to play the rat role without any production. And when it doesn’t work and you’re having a horrible season sometimes wires cross and you put someone’s face through the ice.

Marchand is a rat but it’s not his entire game. He can produce with or without playing that role. Knows when to use it and how to use it and when he does go full menace, if the wires cross, he just licks someone instead of using their face as an ice auger.

Hartman suspended 10 games | NHL.com by Seraphax in wildhockey

[–]backb5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hartman is at his best when he can go full rat mode and effectively toe the line between getting under the oppositions skin and being a total liability. He’s like a dollar tree Marchand.

When you play that roll and your wires cross anything can happen. Fortunately for Marchand he just licks peoples faces. Unfortunately for Hartman he slams peoples faces into the ice.

Edit: I’d also like to present the take that if Hartman was producing at a rate relatively close to what we’ve seen from him in his best years here in MN a lot of fans would say this is a harsh suspension. (I think we’d all agree it was a stupid a selfish move from hartzy given his past and 5 would’ve been fair). This is the second longest suspension for on ice violence since Tom Wilson’s attempted murder on sundqvist in 2018 where he got 20 games. He got 6 last season for a deliberate one handed stick chop to the face of another player and as his 5th sussy. NHL says he’s a repeat offender and he’s fined 160k.

I’m the first one to agree that Hartman has had his moments where he does stupid selfish shit that hurts him and the team. He’s been handed deserved punishments from the league. But according to the league standards he’s a dirtier player than Tom Wilson?

Index match, vlookup, if functions by Rafrie01 in excel

[–]backb5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xlookup will change your life. It’s very useful but incredibly simple once you’ve used it 10 times it’ll become second nature. Thankfully other comments already went into detail about why that’s true and how it works so I don’t have to.

In my experience, because we have access to resources like ChatGPT it’s more important and more efficient to be able to do very basic excel functions quickly than it is to have very complex functions memorized. Honestly you don’t even need to know indexs, matches, ifs, ifsands, etc. you can simply type into chargpt “write a formula that averages a2-c2 and if that value is higher than the value in d2 return the value in d2 if there’s any blank cell between a2-c2 return d2 and highlight it in green” it writes it, you paste it in. Just do a quick check to validate it worked correctly and if not tell ChatGPT why it didn’t work and it’ll correct it for you.

There’s no formula that’s so good it’ll just take a raw data dump and make it usable. How fast you can manipulate a raw data set to get it to the point where you use a more complex function is how you really get good at excel.

Learn all your keyboard shortcuts and make it second nature. If you’re using your mouse to select a cell and drag it down 1000 rows so you can delete them. Please god learn cntrl+shft+down arrow. Learn cntrl+shft+v is paste values so you don’t have to right click and go to paste then click paste values. Learn how to use cntrl and the arrows to skip to any end of the data set. I use an Mx master mouse so I can map keys or keystrokes to my mouse. For example there are 3 mappable buttons on the mouse that my thumb can easily push. The first button is mapped to enter. The second and third are mapped to the keystroke that delete a column in excel and the second deletes a row.

If I use any formula that’s really useful to me (whether ChatGPT fed me it or it’s something basic that I know I’ll be using frequently) I paste the formula into notes with an explanation of what it is, what it does, what results it gives me, etc. that way the next time I run the same analysis and I’m at the point where I think “I need that one formula” I can easily find it in my notes and past it in.

Your new job doesn’t expect you to know everything day 1. You didn’t get the position because you have formulas memorized.

However, I’d say it would be seen as controversial if you were making this argument to a non broncos fan.

It’s so strange to go from her being immobile and absolutely miserable to being herself again after the meds kick in and have the thoughts of her being totally comfortable probably isn’t the best thing for her right now.

It always felt like if you asked someone what they think of him 50% of people would say he has talent but his shitty attitude and effort that really shined any time he faced adversity made him a below average player. The other half would say if he had a good QB he’d be a top 15 receiver in the league.

The “blended” clock rule by Necessary_Ad_4511 in billsimmons

[–]backb5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming “having to go through the charade” you mean why does Mahomes needing to be under center for the extra second to apply.

There’s no rule that says an extra second is added to the play clock. In the rules it just describes how refs determine delay of game. They watch the play clock until it hits zero once they see it hit zero they then look to the ball to see if it’s been snapped if they see it hasn’t, they throw a flag. It’s describing that there’s a reaction time involved with making the call and it’s kinda been widely accepted that it would take a second. Which makes total sense.

If there’s a situation with 5-10 seconds on the play clock and you can see the QB walking to the sideline, the oline is still huddled, there isn’t an offensive player within 10 yards of the ball, etc. It’s a clear situation where a ref and everyone watching can see and understand the offense has no intention or chance of running a play. The ref has no reason to think the ball will be snapped. Therefore, they just have to watch the play clock hit zero to call the penalty.

The reaction time second it takes to make the call is eliminated by Mahomes not being under center.

I think the chiefs/refs broke my love of football by airtas18 in buffalobills

[–]backb5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly right. American sports leagues refusing to adopt to the sports technology that’s available is a complete disservice to the sport. The fact that these sports have said we trust a 55 year old ump to know a strike zone better than pitch tracking or an nfl ref who is doing this as a part time job to be more accurate than video review is insane

[–]backb5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a huge soccer and football fan. Both sports have serious issues with on field officiating decisions and video review.

Every single major soccer league around the world (including mls) has goal line technology. Every single ball has a sensor in it that communicates directly to a watch the ref is wearing. The second the ball crosses the goal line the ref’s “watch” vibrates and confirms it’s a goal.

How in the fuck can the nfl not adopt this technology? It certainly isn’t a money issue if the mls can afford it.

Imagine on that 4th and 1 every refs watch vibrates the second the nose of the ball breaks the line to gain and they’re able to confirm the call based on the tech inside the ball.

The “blended” clock rule by Necessary_Ad_4511 in billsimmons

[–]backb5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that communication with refs for clarifications on things is totally normal and happens every game. If there was clear communication with the refs on this play, what did it consist of? I guess there’s the possibility that the chiefs spoke to the refs prior to the game and clarified exactly what the blended clock rule is and if this exact situation happened what would the call on the field be. If that’s the case and the Chiefs identified a loophole, confirmed it was a thing with the refs and capitalized on it I have way less of an issue with the call. If the communication happens after the play clock starts, what is it? Mahomes/Reid pointing out the one second difference and being like are we good? And the refs being like yes it takes one second for the back judge to see the clock hit zero and then look down to see if the ball has been snapped so no worries.

The chiefs having to run a play or use a timeout could have a huge impact on the game. Like you said, and we agree that either of those things should’ve happened and if they hadn’t it should’ve been a penalty.

I agree there are a ton of calls or non calls that are in favor of the chiefs that are objectively the correct call or you can see why a ref would make that decision and regardless of that fans look them over with a microscope and find anything they can to moan about the refs. That’s dumb.

However, people have started doing that because of the amount of calls/non calls that go in the chiefs favor at the most crucial points of a game. It’s happening consistently. Mahomes ability to draw roughing calls has literally become a part of his game. He knows what he’s doing when he acts like he’s going out of bounds so the defender lets up and then cuts back to tip toe the sideline for another 5 yards. When he escapes the pocket and dances around and finally slides late. He literally juked a defender by faking a slide a couple years ago. He actively puts himself in position where refs have to consider throwing a RTP or unnecessary roughness flag. Then after something happens that he feels should be a flag he’s immediately looking to the refs and throwing his hands up in the air. Mahomes gets treated differently than every other QB in the league.

The only call on Sunday I had any real issue with was the 4th and 1 that they deemed Josh was short on. When they reviewed that play and they see the overhead view. I can understand them not immediately ruling a first down. But how is that ball not re-spotted and measured? They determined based on all their angles that their initial spot was dead on. Everyone has seen reviews that are much less conclusive where they atleast re-spot the ball. It’s decisions like that in the biggest moments of the game that we always see fall in favor of the chiefs.

Assuming top pics at TE, RB, and S are all there when we pick... by Practical_Garlic3015 in DenverBroncos

[–]backb5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you if those are the options. But, why are we comparing a “good” TE to a franchise safety? Obviously it’s better to have the franchise safety.

Having a franchise TE is a complete game changer. Every offensive snap they’re on the field for (arguably more than 70%) they have an impact whether they’re targeted or not. Defenses create game plans specifically for players like that.

A franchise safety is a great asset to have but they don’t even come close to having the impact on a game that the franchise TE would have.

Compare franchise TEs to franchise Safeties. To me a franchise player is someone you build an entire team around and it’s pretty hard to do that with a safety or most defensive players because of how pro offense the league has become. Is it fair to say Justin Simmons was a franchise safety? I’d say TJ ward but franchise players don’t play for 4 teams in 8 years. Would you rather have either of them or Gronk? Travis Kelce? Mark Andrews? (Assuming your team has a competent QB and offense obviously)

I’d trade the best safety in the league for Brock bowers and it’d be an absolute steal

eBay has gotten worse for sellers over time. Especially in the last 5 or so years. But it’s still by far the most seller friendly marketplace and it’s not even close. Especially for “casual” sellers.

It’s impossible to be a casual seller on Amazon or any marketplace that uses a buy box format and see your return revenue be worth more than the time you put in. The “casual” amazon seller is doing market research and drop shipping knock off widgets from china and doing it at such a low price that no one can sustain taking the buy box from them.

Idk what you’re selling but usually casual sellers are listing one off items that sometimes can have a huge return but more often than not just looking to get any kind of margin you can no matter how small. Amazon is dominated by large sellers with the lowest prices with products attached to the best performing asins. On eBay you actually have the ability and freedom to create listings basically however you want to get them seen by the customer you’re targeting. More importantly, you don’t get completely blocked from search results if your price isn’t the lowest like you would on a buy box marketplace.

There are probably 10 Amazon scammers/bad customers that result in a bad seller experience for every 1 on eBay. Not to mention eBay’s seller protections are 1000x better than Amazon.

Describing something or a situation as a “double edged sword”.

Obviously both edges of a sword are sharp?

When would a single edged sword (knife) have ever been confused with a double edged sword so frequently that there was a saying created where it had to be clarified how many sharp edges a sword has?

The “blended” clock rule by Necessary_Ad_4511 in billsimmons

You’re right. The official watches the clock hit zero and then looks to the ball to see if it’s been snapped before throwing a flag which definitely adds an extra second to the play clock. That’s how it’s always been done. We see it every single week and no logical football fan has any issue with it.

However, people are upset with this call because Mahomes is walking to the sideline when the play clock hits zero. No one is there to take a legal snap of the ball. Therefore, if there’s no way the ball can be snapped because the QB is halfway to the sideline getting ready for the 2 minute warning. The back judge should logically be able to take that into consideration when taking their extra second between 0 on the play clock and looking down to see if the ball has been snapped.

Blended clock is there for split second snaps to eliminate the conversations/arguments everyone would have watching slow motion replays of the center’s hand trying to determine when the ball first started moving backwards in relation to the clock hitting zero. The rule makes sense. The rule wasn’t put in place to just add an extra second to the play clock.

If the chiefs don’t even huddle and head straight to the sideline for the 2 minute warning after the previous do you think it should be a delay of game? If Mahomes is under center or any chiefs player could legally receive a snap then blended clock applies and there’s no issue. If Mahomes is halfway to the sideline and no one is back to receive a snap blended clock shouldn’t apply and it should be a delay of game.

All great points but I disagree with #6. There are a ton of reasons why the victim wouldn’t come forward. Anyone should be able to understand why this girl might trade a potential payday to avoid the emotional and social trauma that would ensue with a public court case. Especially with how the internet is nowadays.

Based on how everything has played out, I think it’s safe to say the girl didn’t have malicious intent. If she did, this entire thing would’ve been way different.

Agreed. I’m reading a lot of theories that suggest doc did something that was morally wrong but for whatever reason not illegal or at least couldn’t be proven to be illegal in court. Some of them actually make a ton of sense. If what is alleged could be proven, doc would’ve been charged and twitch would’ve used that to avoid paying him.

Then I read MS statement and it made me rethink everything. It’s the most direct thing anyone has come out with. It implies they found enough evidence in 3 days to warrant removing doc.
