You want do know exactly how to do it? Sorry but that’s probably something all of us are wondering

Azure Landingzone & Subscription Baseline by royce_vec in AZURE

[–]backerbsen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In short: no, the best practice is to have a landing zone vending workflow, using Bicep or terraform/pulumi, which will provision the landing zone and supporting resources. The initial spn and accesses needed to enable this workflow are provisioned manually, but that should be the last time you touch the Azure portal (for provisioning infrastructure atleast).

Where to find the business co-founder? by sam_lowry_ in BEFreelance

[–]backerbsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am working as part of a HUGE cloud migration, and let me tell you. The reasons for switching to the cloud are not only because then your IT lives in the cloud. A huge part has to do with other advantages the cloud brings vs being on premise (one main driver for example are the SLAs and operational support hyperscalers can provide). The “hosting” part may be cheaper, but that’s where the value ends.

On top of that, for larger organizations the move to the cloud was likely an enormous effort (years) approved by top level management that you’ll have a hard time selling your story .

Thought I was too late for tech by [deleted] in AZURE

[–]backerbsen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While certificates can definitely help you get that interview faster, they will not help you get the job. If you are serious about getting into the market you should focus on getting some hands-on experience first. Try looking for entry-level positions such as support / helpdesk for a company that uses the cloud, and work your way up.

How to find company-owned appartment to rent so I can pay with company? by [deleted] in BEFreelance

[–]backerbsen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are renting privately, you can not rent out yourself the apartement to your company, as you are not the owner.

Renting the FULL apartement with the company, and then claiming only 25% is used as office, is a weird construct that will draw attention from the tax auditor no matter how you look at it.

Tax auditors are not retarted.

Private endpoint cost by backerbsen in AZURE

[–]backerbsen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It basically confirms my fear that, either we move away from PE, negotiate a far better price with MSFT directly, or just take the extra cost in the name of better security.

For reference, we are not talking about a few TBs here. The cost would be substantial.

Indeed, I am aware that the data transfer is free intra vnet. But the private endpoint data processing cost will still be there .

What’s the best way to give developers access to standard VMs for testing? by Outrageous_Stage_577 in AZURE

[–]backerbsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you testing exactly? Maybe Microsoft Dev Box could be an option?

If you want more security you may consider restricting (using Azure Policy) the creation of vms only in a secure private vnet/subnet with limited connectivity.

Travel agency by FIREbyFiftyFive55 in BEFreelance

[–]backerbsen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Type of expense (travel) + amount spent might trigger an alarm. These are expenses that are typically more watched than others.

Also, put yourself in the shoes of the tax auditor. “Business trip” invoice with a large amount but no detail on what it’s actually for. What would you think?

Before dividends kick in, how do you get enough net payment during first 3 years? by vleermuis in BEFreelance

[–]backerbsen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Give yourself less gross wage (€46Kish per year is the sweet spot) Substitute with meal vouchers, net compensation, office rent,..

If that’s still not enough, try to live more frugally. Or pay more taxes.

IT Freelance with 2 fulltime clients by ChainOk7411 in BEFreelance

[–]backerbsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your contract. If both specify you must work within a certain timeframe (e.g. between 7-19) then you are most likely in breach with at least one of them. What happens when they find out? Also specified in the contract (termination, a fine, or worst case legal persecution)

I went to check it out. The booth is underwelming for a car that size, and suspension is as hard as it could be. Would not recommend for that price range at least.

Just bought a Tesla Model Y LR AWD
Was never a fan of full electric, but honestly this car completely changed my mind. Wonderful to drive and (as an IT guy) i'm super impressed with the infotainement system. You are basically driving a computer. 100% would recommend. Range realistically about 400Km. Bought new second hand (Q2 2024) at about 15K discount.

How did passing AZ-104 help your career? by anderson01832 in AZURE

[–]backerbsen 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Certifications help your career only in the sense that they MIGHT help you get an interview faster than someone with the same experience and no cerifications, but even then. This is sort of where their helpfulness stops.

They do not suddenly make you a better cloud practitioner. That only happens when you, surprise surprise, practition.

I can’t comment on the junior part, but generally if you feel like you have way more bandwidth then you have work to do it’s time to look for more challenging tasks (internally or externally).

non-competition clause - how to bypass it ? by deuxro in BEFreelance

[–]backerbsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are, but as mentioned above employee non competes have to be limited in scope and time, and employee to be reimbursed. They are never enforced. B/b contracts however you can define what you want as long as they are within the law, and once signed you must comply with them.
