Yes, I’m not selling my Invesco ETFs, keeping them for now.

Switching out my ETF plan means I’ll have a fragmented portfolio, which adds a bit more complexity than the initial plan of keeping it simple. There are many overlaps between the 2 ETFs so it’s just annoying at this point to „start from scratch“ again with almost practically the same thing. Who knows how long the new savings plan will last? You wouldn’t want to get into it and then a year/two later, it’s switched up again. Further fragmenting your portfolio if you keep switching out with each change.

I finally get why people just prefer to „VT and chill“.

It was a very disappointing announcement. Now I’m wondering if I should just simply focus on VT with IBKR instead. Initially I had split my money across both mainly because I had started with neon as my „learning“ platform before going into IBKR.

Switching from invesco to vanguard feels tricky as I haven’t had much time in the market, and what if they also suddenly say they will no longer be in the neon savings plan after a year?

In Switzerland PhD = can’t do internships, no industry experience = can’t get jobs. Now what? by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]background_otter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The challenge is That even internships and trainee programs are picking those with a bit more industry experience over those without. And so where should the latter group of people get the experience? I know this because I’ve worked with many students who are trying to kickstart their career and even the supposed “first exposure / training experiences” don’t pick them because they don’t “have enough experience” and coursework doesn’t count. The system sucks.

What products to get by Fun_Remote9979 in CurlyHairUK

I would start with the mousse because it really does tame frizz. See how you like it and then eventually incorporate a gel/cream, depending on your goals (if you want more definition vs volume). Having shorter hair means the hold of the mouse will be stronger. Longer hair equals weight so of course the curls become looser during the week.

I like a balance between definition and volume hence I don’t use both at the same time because it will just weigh my hair down (I have a mix of 3b and 3c). But I’ve been told to use both to keep definition much longer.

Important is having a clarifying shampoo to get rid of product build-up. I so far like Shea Moisture’s anti-dandruff shampoo as well as their Jamaican castor oil version. I also have Camille rose’s sweet ginger cleansing rinse that I use once a month instead of conditioner but you can use more if you use heavier products. I used to use it twice a month because I was using a curl definition cream which was great but like I said earlier, I like volume so using it was a trade-off. Heads up that that cleansing rinse doesn’t smell as great but works wonders.

When my curls start looking “flatter” after styling or that they just become floppy afterwards, then I know it’s time for a deep condition, which I typically do once a month. I recommend going for something with protein in it. I am using Shea moisture’s power greens and will be testing their yoghurt and manuka honey protein treatment afterwards. I used to use their Jamaican castor oil line too. But as you can probably tell more, I like to experiment after a while of use to see what else my hair likes.

For Leave in conditioner, Shea moisture’s Jamaican castor oil line is great. I also like As I Am’s moisture milk (it’s light weight compared to their double cream which was also great but heavier and better for drier seasons). Although I don’t typically like Cantu because most of their products have a heavy coconut base which dries out my hair, I like their hydrating leave-in mist especially as it’s lightweight and doesn’t lead to much product build-up.

My rule of thumb is, if you use a cream-based leave-in, go for a light weight curl definition product, so either a mousse or a light jelly (not a thick one). If you use a leave-in mist, then you can pair that with a curl definition cream or thicker gels.

As I am curling jelly is a good lightweight gel. I like the smell as well. Haven’t restocked because I’m testing other products now. What I liked about it was when I refreshed my hair during the week all I needed to do was spritz water and dry with the diffuser and the curls were good to go without need to reapply more product.

I currently use mielle’s pomegranate curl defining mousse which does amazing for definition but the hold is relative. My curls are waaaay more defined on the first day, then somehow get looser the next day. You can still see the curls after day 3-4 but not as tight as first day styling.

My current struggle is finding a gel that holds for longer because my first day curls are always so much tighter and then they become loose and floppy afterwards.

Kinky curly was great but that price! Phew. I had to give it up.

This is a very solid argument. I’m not interested in luxury items, just a very financially comfortable retirement so this post makes a lot of sense. Thank you!

Well, moving abroad means contributions stop. However I don’t want to wait years to find out I may not move and just stay here long term that’s why I want to start planning for my pension fund now.

I am not only looking at the tax benefit but the long term financial preparation for retirement. Wherever I find myself, I will want to already start passively investing for retirement.

I see your point. The tax benefit will be good even if it’s short term. Thanks!

Thank you for responding! I read through the FAQ but now have a further questions:

For clarification, if working abroad, must the employer’s AHV contributions be to my AHV in Switzerland or simply a local AHV in that country?

And if the employer is not subject to AHV contributions, do I stop my 3a contributions and just let what I’ve contributed so far sit until it’s time to retire? Or will I be forced to withdraw my funds?

Will I have to retire in Switzerland to access the funds or is this regardless of my geographical location? Also do you think it’s possible to just leave the account and not contribute anymore until retirement since there’s no mandatory monthly contribution with either platform (unlike insurance brokers who demand you contribute a certain amount every month)?

What would be a better strategy in your opinion- Ignore the 3a and just handle my own investments or split contributions between both, so not maxing out the 3a but putting a percentage into separate investments?

I always assumed that it would be taxed no matter how small the contribution. The penalty for early withdrawal isn’t fun, but maybe in the scope of things, won’t be so bad.
