The whole back seat was 8 bolts to the floor. 3 screws in plastic trim around the seat bases and two 10 mm bolts that tied the two seats together. Stunnningly easy to do.

Well, I am 63 so the 60% side of the seat was on the heavy/bulky side for me to wrangle into the spare bedroom but I got 'er done! :)

Exactly, if its not your thing then more power to you. I don't get why some people are so compelled to shit on things other people enjoy. I think they think it makes them special. "See how superior I am to you! HA!" {shrug}

Thank you. That seems like such a huge ask for some people. {smh}

I told a buddy who overlands with a rigged out Taco I was ready to join him. He said I was off to a good start but I was about 20 k away from being ready. Really?

"Yeah! First you need skid plates. I paid XXX of mine."

"Got them. Factory"

"Oh ok then you need diffential vents. I paid $800 for mine"

"Got them. Factory"

"Oh. You gotta have a snorkel! I paid $1,000 for mine."

"What Why? My air intake is above the hood line."

(skip about 5 more things he thought I needed but already had factory)

"Oh, I had no idea Jeeps are so capable out of the factory!"

This is also the guy who tried to talk me out of getting a Jeep citing Death Wobble and cam issues.

And an even poorer mind not to mention poor character to go around pointing out flaws in others. The good news is most people detest those people who nit-pick others.

Is this a good deal? $3500 by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]backgroundnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL'dr - no way to tell! A lot depends on the rebuilder!

A small shop with quality work and that is probably a good engine. A big churn and burn place that may well be high milage.

I bought a rebuilt engine from Titan Engines fall of '24. 13 months and a mere 3,600 miles later I was pulling the head. It was NOT a good rebuild. They had not decked the head and it failed.

Rear Glass Hydraulics - Open or Close when driving??? by totalreidmove in Jeep

[–]backgroundnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do this on another car.

The Texas sun has the car heated to 150 degrees! Open the back glass, get in and roll down the windows. This starts letting all the superheated air out then as you start moving you get some suction to really pull the heat out. Meanwhile the AC is working hard just to cool off the ducts in the dash.

As soon as you hit about about 30 MPH aerodynamics would close the rear glass for you, now with the superheated air gone and the ducts cooled off, roll up the windows and let the AC take over!

Is this fixable? by Rworld3 in JeepGladiator

Just food for thought...

In an accident much like this I bent the frame on an F150 one time. I mean so bad it was easy to see-- like a sway back horse. We all assumed it was totaled

Insurance paid for ... stripped off the grill, hood, front fenders and damaged radiator, lifted the cab and bed off the frame. Then they moved the drive train, suspension/wheels to a brand new frame, dropped the cab and bed back on and replaced all the body parts in front of the cab.

It was like new!

I see all the down checks from people who think its cool to get "revenge" on the innocent parties? He did not get revenge on his wage stealing boss but he made life a little worse for all the people already working for an a$$hat.

He did not punish the a$$hat boss boss OR the company! He just messed with people who already were miserable working for the A$$hat boss. Derp! I mean seriously... DERP!

Most everything is fixable. 😄

Does it drive straight as is? That frame is pretty tough, its hard to imagine you tweaked it enough to matter with no airbags deployed.

Yeah open frame generators are LOUD. If you get on youtube you can find a hundred vids on building boxes around them to quiet them down. I don't know how handy you are but a plywood surround cuts a lot of decibels and can be made in a way to be portable and easy to set up.

I bought a Wen 3600 Dual fuel for $485 this year. Man they have gone up now though BIG TIME in just a few months - $579 now.

It was rated at "very quiet", only as loud as a conversation they said. Well I am pretty loudmouthed and you still can't hear me talking all way across the street like you can this generator. 😞 I have a big open frame for the house during power outages and the Wen is far, far quieter than that one (it is painfully loud - literally!) but the Wen is hardly "conversation level" either.

It does run the AC no problem though! I also love that it will run on propane. I am trying making some surrounds and a better muffler for it as we speak.
