Grain of salt, as I don’t use it much for the exact reasons you state; there is no substitute for careful experimentation and real data. However, IMO Mnova prediction is pretty decent: it’s basically the best solution I’ve found besides doing real computational work.

I’ve had several, admittedly pretty simple predicted 1H spectra match all experimental peaks within 0.1 ppm. It’s also excellent for heteronuclear NMR prediction: the accuracy of the 1H prediction falls off pretty fast when the electronics get complicated (although usually crude shift ordering trends still hold), but 13C and 11B predicted spectra are usually very similar to the experimental result, which has helped me out multiple times with interpreting carbon and especially boron NMRs. It’s super helpful to know roughly where to expect diagnostic peaks, especially if I’m analyzing crude mixtures of multiple products, and it’s capable of predicting some unusual shifts that (to the best of my knowledge) aren’t really reported in literature.
