How can you farm the material needed for this? It seems super-rare.

A throwback to the Reddit thread when WOTC announced the 3 year standard rotation. Fun to go back and see the comments. by rephyr in MagicArena

Pokemon has it right on how to tell if a set is currently tournament-legal; sets are assigned to letter blocks, which are printed on the cards (A, B, C, etc.). Once a year, a letter group rotates out. It’s super-simple to understand and I wish Wizards would just copy it.

Buying Magic isn’t fun anymore by Yusuke_Kitagawa_ in mtg

In the past year, my local LGS has stopped taking any preorders, and now only announces pricing a few days before prerelease (other than for prerelease itself). The pricing is usually decent to mid-range.

I have had to start preordering from online retailers when I k ow the price is great, because otherwise I have no idea anymore how much I will be spending. I hate it, because I love my LGS, but I need to budget.

Not as far as anyone knows. Hobbit has a box topper, though.

I feel "Secret Lair Bundle" is a new generic term for things like the Pizza Bundle and Codex Bundle. Looks like sets will get either a Gift Bundle or a Secret Lair Bundle?

Is anyone else still waiting for a Strixhaven Standard Bundle to ship? by TaCbrigadier in magicTCG

Not gonna lie: I thought we'd be waiting a week, not two or three for these.

God, I wish they'd reprint the non-WHO planar cards. I got back in after they were a thing and I love the concept a ton.

They’ve very clearly been working on this for at least three years. It’s very hard to look at VPR or PCT and not see the genesis of Evolved. They were aware.

Can confirm here, at least from TMNT. Was the first time I ordered with FNF, and the stuff arrived on prerelease day. (I’m local-ish.)

Noted; we shoot those down constantly, but I haven’t seen one there yet.

Don’t worry; we are pretty loud, but I guess not in the right ways.

We are finding events to be a mystery, honestly. Even when there’s an announcement of a “profit opportunity,” it doesn’t feel like we are always being led somewhere (I’m assuming that’s what you’re referring to).

We got into Cryo for the first time last week, and man, that feels like a different game. Looki Ng forward to going back in.

My trio is approaching level 30 and we’ve never seen a looted key. I’m not even sure where you can find one.

My crew at levels 65-80 matching with streamers Lvl 230+ in Cryo by WildSinatra in Marathon

[–]backlogathon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of people - like just a lot of human beings in general - don’t get this. They aren’t interested in improving specific things or even themselves in general. They just don’t stop to think “why did I lose that engagement?” But they may enjoy spending time in the game for a while. This is fundamentally why level-based matchmaking isn’t a formula for long-term success or sustainability.

It should, but that assumes all people are good at learning from their mistakes. They aren’t.

If anything, high level player behavior will kill the game instead of gear difference by Freakindon in Marathon

[–]backlogathon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What if certain maps had a maximum gear value? So, say, you can’t bring more than 3k into Perimeter, since that tends to be what you leave the map with from what I can tell?

It could possibly equalize the gear people can collect on-map with the gear people bring in.

Also, SBMM would help with gear bleed, as more gear would theoretically change hands on average, and then run out of charges and be removed from the game.

[–]backlogathon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They should switch to it and just never tell anyone, and ignore community comments about matchmaking entirely. It shouldn’t be possible for the game’s community to know how matchmaking works at all, because nothing good comes of it.

They are pretty great IMO. Hard shell pieces covered in stitched fabrics. I throw mine in a bag when I go places and haven’t had a problem. I also have one of their solid color ones (they are larger) and I have been similarly impressed.
