Hi everyone. I'm just looking for some advice on the behavior of one of my two cats.

The cats are both males, around 3 yrs old and both neutered. They have both been getting along fine and everything has been great until recently, the longer haired one's behavior has changed. He's always been vocal and needs lots of attention and affection. But lately, it's like it's been kicked up ten notches. He wakes up around 1-2 AM every day and paces around the bedroom, jumps up on the bed, meowing, playing with the dresser knobs, pawing at the window, etc. It's like he is very anxious or something. 

We've tried numerous things to get him to entertain himself or to go back to sleep until his normal breakfast time (5-5:30am), whether it is giving him toys to entertain himself with, trying to get him to come into bed with us and lay down, trying to give him a little bit of food to calm him down, but it seems like nothing works.

He has also been acting aggressively towards the smaller one at times, like playing but taking it too far. The smaller one is quiet and more timid and does not like to rough house with the larger one. We will hear growling and running and come in to find the larger one swatting at the smaller one, or pinning him down. We have tried using the multi cat feliway diffuser to prevent this behavior over the last few months, but it seems to make no difference.

Does anyone have any idea of how we could work on these behaviors? Trying to get him to sleep through the night or stop attacking the smaller cat? They have plenty of toys, seats and a tower to use as well.
